Wow, I really enjoyed Shalamar's album, "Friends" I heard this in a record shop earlier this week (on wax, which was even cooler). I picked that one as well as Heatwave's 1982 classic, "Current". There's something about the sound of records made in 1982 that has been really fascinating me lately. Everything from New Wave to Funk to Punk to Disco to Jazz to whatever. But I'm especially digging the Soul and Funk from that era. But yeah, this was definitely one of the best albums by Shalamar and maybe even the best one from the Hewett/Watley/Daniels line-up. We all know and love the classic "A Night To Remember" which was the bomb diggity and still is today. But then you had other joints like "There it Is", "I Can Make You Feel Good" and "Playing To Win". It's funky and has a springtime feel to it. To me, at least. I miss this sound, but I'm working on some music that is somewhat reminiscent of this era of Soul and Funk. You may see it sometime this year, we'll see how that goes. Meanwhile, we should all just pop and lock to "Friends". Oh yeah, can you say REUNION??? NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I think they're okay, but somehow - probably because I#m such an EWF-fan - I think they're superficial compared to EWF...
you see, even if it's unfair, but they're just too neat or soemthing. Anyway, I like some songs and the Friends album is my fave. BTW, what does Shalamar mean??

Me too. That's my favorite album of theirs, start to finish. Made me respect them more as an act.

Definately one of their best albums next to "Three For Love". Andy is a four letter word.

This is my favorite Shalamar album. The first single "A Night To Remember" is their finest moment.I love that song! It was the perfect springtime '82 jam.I also like "Don't Try To Change Me","Help Me" and "I Can Make You Feel Good".Shalamar specialized in breezy, smooth R&B and this album is their masterpiece.
