This is a tough question for me to answer, without thinking, changing, re-thinking and changing, again and again, and again. I, for sure and absolutely without a doubt, would have Jimi there.

The other three, Otis Redding, Robert Johnson, and Bob Marley.... MuthaFunka..., man you know this was a though ?, Hell... I've had problems with giving an answer for 10 dinner guest, dead or alive...

cool

lol That's why I thought is was a great thread - Give props to Graycap for inspiring it.

Billie Holiday (the no-bullshit woman who'll tell you off in a minute)

You know it nod Lady is known for dropping bombs in ANY conversation. Her suurvived rehearsal tapes are WIILD!

I'm not that intrested in the fellas,,,I want the ladies to sit in my living room and raise all kinds of madhouse hell lol

Sassy

Queenie

Lady Day

Dr.Simone

Dinah loves to joke and gossip, Nina is unpreditcable and VERY keen to social issues, while Lady is the woman who brings the bunch to reality and Sarah is the one who always contradicts Lady with her sophisticated, younger views on life. I'd love to see the confrontation between Billie & Sarah once again. A musician who worked with them both said that both women are similar in alot of ways, and they'd have been great friend have they known each other real well(outside the nasty rivalry they put themselves in).

Boy, that would've been a helluva dinner.

Yeah I know what you mean, Harley.

I'd always wondered what dinner with the beautiful Motown ladies Florence Ballard, Tammi Terrell, Mary Wells and Georgeanna Tillman (of the Marvelettes) would've been like. cool

oh shit, I could slap myself for forgetting left eye sad I loved her so much as a kid, I think I would want to know how she overcame her issues emotionally after the 94 incident, cause she seemed to be really strong about it after and always came off as funky and cool.

After thinking about this for a moment, I decided i'd have to have 2 dinners.

A kind of composer's dinner...

Duke Ellington
Frank Zappa
Sun Ra
Karlheinz Stockhausen

And a guitar dinner...

Robert Johnson
Charlie Christian
Wes Montgomery
Jimi Hendrix

I'm sure these guys would make for interesting dinner conversations.
