this thread would be painful for me if it were "Millie Jackson or Betty Davis" - that's a choice I cannot and will not make!

hmph!

i like betty more as a recording artist. millie's albums can be hit-or-miss sometimes.

but live? not that i've seen any footage of betty in concert, but i've seen enough pictures and heard enough accounts to know that it must have been close to a religious experience. and of course, millie is a fantastic performer. so it's gotta be a tie in that department.

meanwhile, millie is still around keeping busy and writing and doing radio shows and things, while betty got the spark beat out of her by the industry and she's now a recluse. i gotta give millie lots of respect for hanging on through the years, and keeping her sense of humor. nod

Millie J. is my favorite. Her CD "Back to the Sh*t" is hilarious.

cool I can dig that... Hey, I listen to her show sometimes when I'm in the car during her mid-day drive radio slot, remote from her ATL home. Yeah she's still doing her thang on stage. I believe Betty is doing some producing or what have you, but not @ a hectic pace.

So, are trying to evade my question razz, "Millie Jackson or Betty Davis"

it took me a while to find the 2 disc anthology of her studio catalog! i finally found it for a very reasonable price, used via mail order. but yeah, it's hard to find ANY millie on CD, at least in wrecka stows.

Not really. I bought it from my local record store a few years ago. It is a two CD set that includes the albums "Live and Unscensored" and "Live and Outrageous". If you can't find it at your local record store, it is available at Amazon as we speak for $22.98. The picture on the CD doesn't look like that picture though. This is what the CD set looks like and here are the track listings. Good luck.

Disc: 1
1. Keep The Home Fire Burnin'
2. Logs And Thangs
3. Put Something Down On It
4. Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?
5. Put Something Down On It (Reprise)

7. Phuck U Symphony
8. What Am I Waiting For
9. I Still Love You (You Still Love Me)

13. Hold The Line
14. Be A Sweetheart
15. Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)
16. Give It Up
17. A Moment's Pleasure

Disc: 2
1. If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Want To Be Right)
2. The Rap
3. If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Want To Be Right) (Reprise)

Where are you from Anx? In my area, "Live and Unscensored/Live and Outrageous", "Feelin' Bitchy", "Caught Up/Still Caught Up", and "Anthology" are in the record stores. Millie's music is kinda bluesy and I'm in The South where there a lot of blues fans. A record store would be crazy not to stock Millie down here. lol

By the way, I checked Amazon again and all the albums I mentioned are available on CD as well as a few others.

Of course, the availablilty of an artist CD's increase along with popularity. I understand now Millie's radio show has been doin quite well. So, some CD's may be more available now then, they were 3 or 4 years back when we initially did they Millie thread on the Org.

Damn. I thought you meant Betty Davis, as the two are just naturally linked (at least in my head).

Now that would be fire on fire. Somebody might lose something they'd like to keep if those two ever tangled.

Anxiety even pointed that out and my brain still made that erroneous connection, figuring that would explain the edit.

I don't know anything about Betty Wright other than she was the "Clean-up Woman".

I'm saying disbelief

You can't take one without the other,,,,although Millie IS the Mae West of soul music and she was the one who took heat from everybody(Pimp,,,I mean Rev.Jesse Jackson being one of the opposed voices of Millie Jackson's music).
