He died from a diseas that I had about 14 years ago.

Don't mean to bring anyone down, but whenever this guy's name comes up it sends me into a really weird place. confused

I don't know why he has the two names. But yeah I dig 'donuts' too. there is another cd that I like alot where he collaborated with Madlib called 'Jaylib' and it's hot!

I dig Talib Kweli's collaboration with Madlib too nod

right now i'm back to being addicted to the 'Stop!' track on Donuts, good stuff nod

It's a hip hop thing.
How many times has Sean Combs changed his moniker?
It's nothing new or shocking.

I took the name change so as to not be confused with
jermaine dupri. When jermaine dupri released his first
solo album he was going by the moniker j.d.
Jay Dee/jay dilla was an underrated producer. He worked with
tribe called quest, slum village which he was a member of on
the first album, common, mos def, talib kweli just to name a few.

Get the Ruff Draft asap, also! Disc 1 is the vocal disc and disc 2 has all the instrumental versions. Welcome 2 Detroit is another good one.I'll buy anything I can get my hands on by J-Dilla/Jay Dee and Madlib.I don't listen to a great deal of hip hop anymore, but these are 2 of the hip hop artists I will continue to support and marvel over.

J Dilla is one of my favorite producers ever. I'm listening to "Time: The Donuts of The Heart right now"

Donuts really is some genius stuff.

I like how he sometimes shows you the original sample then how he flips it... sometimes separates all the sections and plays them with rests... it's like he is showing people the art of it.
