Madonna is the most overrated bitch on the planet, she is purely shit!

Because Michael Jackson followed pop music structure. That combined with his immense talents made him unstoppable.

But when you see someone like Prince making unique music that is true to himself and still shipping big numbers, I find that more impressive.

750 millon records and being broke is very impressive.

Michael Jackson has sold four times more than Madonna or Prince because he was the safe little act that everyone could like ranging from the youngest kids to the oldest grandparents. As soon as kids were old enough to outgrow "Sesame Street", then they got into Michael Jackson. That shit ain't cool at all.

Old folks didn't like Prince because he was nasty as hell and they weren't sure whether he was gay or not. They didn't like Madonna because she was a slut. They were two artists that parents would want to keep their kids away from as a person, much less let them listen to their music. What could be cooler than that, especially when you are a rebellious teenager at the time?

Of course you can sell loads of music when you appeal to everyone and are a "safe, boy next door type" with "good moral values".

what about the fact the michael had been in the public eye for years before people were introduced to prince or madonna

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Michael Jackson is more talented vocally than Prince.
Prince is willing to take his music to a wider range of places.

Sure Michael's sales are amazing, but his output sucks. He waits
way too long to put out material. He also gets more hung up on
making "pop" that appeals to everyone. This would be fine with me,
except the few albums he made and didn't care about that, (HIStory and BOTDF) were amazing and interesting.
