Who was Klaus Nomi?

On Youtube, he has several performances with Bowie (TVC15, Boys Keep Swinging, The Man who Sold the World) and after reading several posts on youtube, I am trying to get what the fuss was all about?

Can anyone fill me in?

Klaus was this German performance artist who was apart of the New York art scene of the 70's and 80's. Friends with Andy Warhol Jean Michel Basquiat,.Klaus Noami was the one of the first artist in the art scene to die of what they called Gay Cancer in the early 80's.

I've not heard any of his music, but the guy's appearance freaks me out a little!

I hear he's decent though, so at some point I'll definitely make an effort to check his stuff out. hmmm

I just can't guarantee I'll look at him.
