at 4:00 on that vid
and yes Madonna if she wanted to could be a much better dancer than Janet. she just doesn't have the desire to go that route.

She also could have been the next Arthur Miller and Dorothy Parker, but let's just be good fans and say she didn't have the desire to go that route instead of saying she wasn't capable.

i don't like the who is better than who dancer because Madonna's choice of cherography on tour is different than what Janet or Michael do. There is no way really to compare them. And like I've said before Madonna's range as a dancer is vastly larger than the other two as is her level of training. She hast he potenital to be vastly better if her focus is on the dancing, and according to long time Tour Programmer and asst Music driector from Who's That Girl through ReInvention Tour, Michael McKnight, Madonna wants the focus on the music and the dancing, lights and video came after that. Mike said it that Madonna always gave him control of the click track on the tours which most of the time is handled by the projection people and not the Music diector. That is also why we see less and less dancing from her because as she ages she can't keep up her fitness routine and do all the dancing and still be able to function.

As anyone in the business knows, training has absolutely no impact on outcome. There are girls who have taken ballet for over 10 years and gotten nowhere because they simply didn't have it. But yeah, they've received a lot of training. As for range, I really cannot say I've noticed that much difference.

I just hate the assumptions that Madonna just doesn't deem it worthy of her time or shit like that. Please. Who's to say she just couldn't pull it off, she knew it, and so she let it go? She's a smart bitch, she knows her strengths and weakenesses, and how to manage them.

i don't think she's every really been to concerned with her dancing in the videos or what not. She's done 5 videos maybe that have a routine in them? That's why I love the video from A League of Their Own.

apples & oranges.

Janet is all about the street troupe dancing recreating her videos
4 the stage.

Madonna has a more classical/theatrical approach.

I’m not mad at Madonna. She does the best with what she has. Works just as hard as anybody if not harder and surrounds herself with the best. If you've got limited vocal skills you've got to make up for it somehow. She’s continuously sh*tted on for her dancing and maybe she isn’t a dancer but there aren’t many folks her age who put in that sort of physical effort night after night.

After a certain age or a few decades you need to be able to do something else besides recreate your video with a team of dancers and choreography isn’t just about pop-locking and vogueing. Part of it is creatively knowing how to use the space and dancers that you have. I think she’s been able to effectively do that for some time and to me it’s been fresh. Even her attempts at playing guitar, while some find it laughable I still think it was a very brave thing to do knowing she would be criticized and mocked for it. It brings a slightly new element to her performances and the funny thing is for years I wanted Janet to learn to play guitar so she could surprise people and do something different (an acoustic version of Let’s Wait Awhile or Come Back To Me). But instead it was Madge who surprised me with it.
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
