Like A Prayer nod

That's my fourth favorite Madonna album lol This is how my Top 5 looks today:

Erotica
Ray Of Light
Confessions On A Dancefloor
Like A Prayer
Bedtime Stories

It's funny,I think she made her best music in the 90s and beyond.

wow @ Confessions making it to #3 in your list! i mean, it's solid but i guess i'm just not used to seeing it that high in a fan's top 5 list.

ok here's mine:

Like a prayer
Ray of light
Erotica
Bedtime Stories
True Blue

part of my judgement is based on memories though (true blue kicking Music out)

"Confessions" blew me away! For years,I had been wanting Madonna to make an album like that.A solid dance album all the way through. An album that pays tribute to disco lol I also loved the whole Confessions era too....the 70s fashions, the tour, the videos. It was exciting.

Me too ~ we were tranced on that ride home. And, the faster she would sing, the faster you would drive. 10 Years, wow. What a great album. I loved it from the first listen and it is still one of my favourites.

I was working at the Virgin Magestore in Amsterdam at the time. It was locate din a basement and there were escalators going down.
I remember being in the store (I worked an office job there) and waiting to see the escalators being turned on by security.

Then came what I was there to see; a dozen or so gay men RUNNING down the escalators to run straight to the Madonna wall we made, all walking out with I don't know how many different colours the special editions were; they all took one colour each, paying about 250 guilders in total.

Fams are weird, but fun to see in operating mode. One TOTALLY freaked when one of the special edition colours was sold out and bid the person in front of him DOUBLE. I am so glad I am just in it for the music. I still have my promo album somewhere, but I also bought the regular album, as it rocks so much... the art design, the photography. This album made me, for the time it lasted, a new-born Madonna fan.

Serious. The only difference of the special editions was that there were different colours. Music was exactly the same.

I fammed out on Prince for a while, but seeing the dead-beat fans in recordstores where I worked quickly turned oe offa that.

I remember seeing the limited edition CD in stores.I didn't buy it though. The only special thing about it was the packaging confused

Most of Madonna's limited edition CDs aren't worth the extra bucks. The exception would be 'Confessions'.I like that one...it contains a bonus track ("Fighting Spirit") plus a big, glossy photobook and a journal.

This album always takes me back to my junior year in college. My lab partners were so tired of me humming and singing "Frozen" all the time. lol

I remember "Frozen" being a great song to study/cram to. For some reason it helped me stay focused and motivated (long hours).

...I should add that Madonna never looked more beautiful than she did during the Ray Of Light phase and in particular the photos used on the cover and in the CD booklet for the album.....the natural looking, flowing hair, toned build...alllll good! biggrin biggrin

I love artists that are on a journey; I like music to reflect their life. Madonna's songs were at times autobiographical, but never before in this way; she seemed reborn and it was beautiful to hear how motherhood had expanded her material view on the world and she became the better because of it.
As did her music; the album was focused and had an overall feel to it; a matured Madonna you could still dance to. Next to Like A Prayer and First Album this is my fave Madonna album.
Beautiful.

Actually, the promo was leaked three weeks in advance of that album, but without the help of the internet it was just a small bunch of lucky people.

10 years already, my God. I remember when this came out like it was yesterday. I was in North Carolina preparing to go to California this week in 1998. I eventually brought the album because I loved the song Ray of Light and it helped bring me out of a depression I was in from having just joined the military. It was my 1st Madonna CD and it made me realize that I had been a closet Madonna fan for years. Once I got that revelation, I got more of her CD's but this is a great CD. It still holds up after all of this time and it's in my top 3 of favorite Madonna albums.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

This was when I was beginning my military service. The CD came out, I think 7 months after I had joined the Marines.

Ah, Veronica Electronica. This album (and song, in particular) remind me of being sixteen and in high school. I remember listening to this album on a Discman in a school bus headed to the Page Museum. I don't know why, but every time I think of this album, I think of that same school field trip and that museum. Even 10 years later.
