TONEX'S new tracks off his upcoming "Gospop" lp T once again comes with something different. I am feeling alot of this. BLESSING is on that new wave synth eighties vibe.
I am looking forward to Gospop. For those that don't know last week T released a emcee record. Pretty impressive shift from Oakpark and London Letters. But Gospop is sounding like a really pioneering record for him. http://profile.myspace.co...=313284360 Check it out for yourself and let me know what your fav track off Gospop is.

Sorry just not feeling it. I only kind of dig the slow track.
Bless Me is a straight ripoff of prince's something in the water does not compute. Does he really have to stoop that low to belong and do a useless garbage track with omarion and missy elliot. It seems that tonex is trying to hard to deliver something different and groundbreaking to gospel. He did it pretty well with the taxi album and the live album out of the box now he just seems to be reaching. He ought to look at how brilliant kurt franklin has done it without stepping waaay out of the box.(No pun intended) Don't laugh at my funk

I hear practically every song that he drew a vibe from. Its not a rip of "Something..." at all. Its a rip of the FEEL of "SITW". HE does what Prince used to do. None of the notes are the same but the "technique" and essence of the song has been tapped into for sure. Its not a copyright infringement in any way, though. He tapped into "Leave Me Alone" and "Higher Ground" for "Sneeze". "Unspoken" is a bad ass ballad. It has the vocal vibe of a Mint Condition track. "Gospop" has the vocal styles of Britney Spears mixed with the rhythmic style of Bun-B/UGK. That's and odd combination of styles if there ever was one. Man, Tonex is by far one of the most interesting Gospel artist in the business. Plus, he's extremely talented. I respect his skillz. At least he remains interesting if nothing else. [Edited 3/1/08 8:42am] He's an interesting cat to say the least. It's good to hear that he worked out/overcome his label and financial woes. I wonder if he is recording on a indie or major label now. [Edited 3/1/08 8:59am]

I own a few of his CDs and I like his vibe and creativity. I'm not up on the "controversy" he's caused, though.

So you like the direction his music is going particularly pairing up with the generic sounds and artists like omarion and missy. Don't laugh at my funk

He's only good at being a little crossover prop, but he's no musician. Tonex is overrated anyway.

Tonex has always tried to stay current and keep a balance between good vocals/musicianship and a current sound. Who he works with is up to him. I think he's trying to be bigger with this CD and to do that you have to play the game and get your name beyond the pulpits and pews. I'm not necessarily fond of nor do I dislike where he's going. I'm going to check the whole CD and decide then. Oh, and Dance, Kirk is a damn good keyboard player. You've been misinformed. I do agree that he is trash, though. Even though he can play, i have never liked his Puffy-esque approach to music.

I think tonex has always tried to appear to be more innovative and controversial than what he actually was/has been/is. I listened to the tracks on his myspace page and "Bless Me" is the most interesting of the bunch...the rest...well....
