That whole album is perfection. One of the absolute best of the '90s and still the best thing Timbaland has ever done. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I remember going crazy
about "Back & Forth" when she first come out (reminds me of the skating rink) back when cassette singles were all the rave I remember when "At Your Best" dropped and NOT believing it was Aaliyah... I remember the "One In A Million" video and how everyone wanted to know the moves to the duet/dance same with "4 Page Letter"... I can remember being so disappointed/embarassed in/for Aaliyah during a performance of "One In A Million" on Showtime At The Apollo she's truly one of the last of a DEAD breed... she actually SANG & PERFORMED at the same time... as opposed to lip syncing she sounded horrible, but MAD PROPS because she sang live... I remember pulling my car over on a traffic circle at first listen of "Are You That Somebody" on the radio... I couldn't believe how HOT that song was... totally impaired my driving abilities for about 4 minutes... I remember the day her last studio album came out Foxy Brown's Broken Silence came out the same day and unfortunately I couldn't buy but one which was Broken Silence... I also remember a suicidal episode hearing her "Rock The Boat" over & over again I musta had it on repeat that song & Mary J. Blige's "Keep Your Head" helped to save my life Aaliyah was no powerhouse but I truly adored the tom-boyish swagger her & girls like Mary, Faith, Monica brought to female R&B and I love the stuff she did with Timbaland & Missy especially [Edited 3/2/08 20:31pm] because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

I agree with all said.
Are you that somebody took over, I remember I use to sing the lyrics all wrong but it was constantly in my head. Aaliyah was for sure one of the last of a dying breed. She wasnt just a Janet rip off, she had her own style, her own sound etc. I miss her terribly. [Edited 3/4/08 10:59am]

purplesweat said: Fucking haters, let's see you do what she did in the little time she had and have half as much impact. Losers. Why waste your time in a thread for someone you don't like?
Don't you have better things to do with your time? Or are you that uninspired and boring that the only thing you can do with yourself is critisize people who actually did something with their lives? Congratulations, you suck at life! Anyway, my favorite songs of hers are One in a Million, Rock the Boat and Try Again. AMEN!!!

such a tragic ending for a beautiful and talented girl sometimes i wonder what great songs she would have made if she were still alive it does make me mad when they compare ashanti to her there is no comparison ashanti can't sing or dance in my opinion

Made worse by those stoopid rumors about her death and Left Eye's being linked to insurance policies. i always said if i had a girl, i would name her aaliyah it's a pretty name that actually has meaning(highly exalted), not like something like aquanetta
