Dance

I hate her music, but she's batting eyes though.

Love it! She has a new "album" available on her myspace page to purchase, but only if you are an American customer. sad

I think I've finally accepted that How I Do is, will be and will remain her only real album.

It's like waiting for a proper follow up to Dionne's Wild Seed or Cree's Fäerie -- about as palpable as a mirage.

I'm lucky I saw her live when I did in '02.

I really would love to see her. I check for RES news at least once a month. I really hope that she does release a new album in stores, but I concede that it grows more unlikely with each passing year.

Interesting, www.resmusic.com used to be the site from her label, now it looks like a fan owns the domain...

"Golden Boys" was my favorite on her album!

Res sang a part on Talib Kweli and Madlib's recent album Liberation. So she ain't "gone".

I was mad the first time I heard this song. This was back in my days as an aspiring songwriter. I wrote a song called "Golden Boy" back in 2000, and then this chick beats me to the punch in the next year. And my song had a somewhat similar theme: superstars (namely rappers) and their damn egos. I didn't release mine yet since I could'nt find enough musicians to record the track. But it still pissed me off that she put the same kind of song out. mad

You know what, this sorta situation happened to me, but in the form of a dance. I started doing this dance which I dubbed "The Matrix" where basically you bend backwards and simulate Keanu Reeves character in the first Matrix movie when the bullets fly by.

But I was gekked with it. I was putting ALL KINDS of signatures on it and it was DOPE.

Then I saw it in a rap video 3 years later and I was like "WTFFFF!!" lol

But the thing is the chick in the video only bended back a little bit and did a slight pivot. With my thing, I bended back all the way to the floor, freeze for a bit and do variants with my arms like I'm dead or hurt and then get back up like nothing happened [or walk away from it].

It's mostly coincidence, but that's MY little thing, you know? I was kinda like "OK, whatever" but I mean that was my thing. lol

But I'm not really mad because I have several other dances that are my thing. So much so I could make a YouTube video on it. haha

Res is still around recording and playing shows. The latest information including new tracks, which are about 12-14 are on her myspace page. If you myspace, you will find her there. She posts blogs and has been posting music for a few months. You can click on my signature myspace link and through there you will find her page under the friends listing. It's taking a long time to get a new release because of poor treatment by the record company...no big surprise. I don't know if she has signed with anybody new, but she is putting the music out through her myspace page, so check it out.

Res debut is in my top 5 fave of this decade. I love that song.

That's wack, yo. But at least I did learn a valuable lesson about copyrighting. wink

Speaking of which, I thought this was a tad strange on resmusic.com:

Many Res fans are into some extreme parties. Some of them including my self like adult swingers clubs or swingers parties as just one partner is not enough. I don't know if Res her self ever gets involved, but I think she might like it!

The inspiration for this thread came from hearing the song randomly pop up on my last.fm player over the weekend.

And speaking of the album, I used to love the hidden song after "Tsunami." I believe it's "Say It Anyway."

What else has Santi White done?

I remember with this album I was really caught up with "Let Love." I believe it was a Cure cover? I was really into it @ one point.

Thanks! I saw this video in your org profile not too long ago. That Stiffed track a very West Coast sounding song. Instantly you. smile

Santogold, wow. So that's Santi? I saw her perform "Pretty Green" with Mark Ronson at his concert last summer.

No, it only samples The Cure's "Other Voices".

I have both Stiffed albums. If you like Noisettes, then Stiffed should appeal to you. Their sound is similar, but Stiffed didn't have any real killer songs like "Scratch Your Name".

I read that Santi wrote songs for Ashlee Simpson's new album.

Thanks. I'll keep them in mind. After watching that YouTube clip, the chords were in my head this morning.

Specifically, I'd like to see her collaborate with DOC again for another album. This cat is on it. He's the same one who did Esthero's 'Breath From Another'...
