The Brit Awards - What a joke

So the best song by a British band or artist in the last twelve months is the theme song from the Morrisons Supermarket TV ad...?!

I think that says everything we need to know about the state of music in this country at the mo.

And no nomination for the Smashing Pumpkins in best International Band?! And is it me, or is Mika just about the worst live singer you've ever heard? Not even dogs would appreciate that sh*t!

Mika is usually great live, but it did sound off last night!

Notice the huge activity on here.....if it ain't American, it don't get discussed anymore! Even the music forums are becoming as USA inward as the Politics and Religion threads.

Yeah, I had noticed that...its very American driven on here at the mo, like the rest of the world musically doesn't exist or something. How unusual for our American cousins to think like that biggrin

Well, this site is based in the USA, so that would explain a lot of the American-centric tilt of this forum. flag However, I wasn't even aware that the Brit Awards were on last night or two nights ago, and I believe that they don't even show the Brit Awards here in the USA until about a month later, and that's on BBC America, which a lot of people don't even get on cable or have to pay extra for. I guess I'll have to catch some clips on YouTube.

I'd only ever heard that song in the advert. I couldn't believe it when it won and I realised it was a 'proper' song rather than a jingle. lol

they were kinda crap this year i thought the osbournes did a resonable job hosting it, though i didnt find them funny. but the way sharon dealt with vic reeves when he came on stage pissed, when he was ment to be presenting the award for the best album i have to give her some credit

the best performance in my opinion would have to be either mark ronson with amy winehouse or paul mccartney but none of the performances were particularly amazing

also am i the only person who got annoyed with the constant name dropping of the brits school it seemed like they were getting thanked ever 2 minutes

hope next year it improves confused
