Georgio - "Lovers Lane" I was going through some of my 12" singles 2nite and ran across this one. I had 4gotten how much this guy wanted 2 b Prince.

Never seen that video...looks like a small time budget in a European city...
Georgio is by far my favorite of the Prince imitators...Sexappeal is my JAM! Tina Cherry is good too and I forgot how much I liked Lovers Lane. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind. | |

Georgio's an old guilty pleasure for me.
I was into his stuff back in the day, and I simply could not understand why my friends sooo hated him!  Let's just say I now fully, completely, comprehensively understand.  BUT...
I still think he was among the most fun Prince wannabes, and his work, while extraordinarily sappy and amateurish, showed some talent for the mindless, synthesized dance pop of the mid- to late-80s. With some mentoring, a bigger budget and less ego, he might've stuck around for awhile. Last I heard, he'd given up on music, and he made a gangster movie called Tapped Out with Coolio in 2003. I've read it's as bad as his music. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I bought 2 of this guys albums back in the day. THey were pretty damn campy. I thing Polka Dots may be the most ridiculous song ever made. 
Lovers Lane is...a'ight. Its basically a 2 minute song that painfully stretched to 4+ minutes, though. spellingedit [Edited 1/30/08 5:55am] A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE. | |
