I've heard a lot about this album. What does it sound like? It's getting very good reviews and is among the top 5 most acclaimed albums of 2007.

i guess it could be labeled as "rock" since it's got superb drums and
guitars and whatnot.

but it's not really rock. at times it reminds me of joy division and
the arcade fire and at other times it reminds me of leonard cohen.

it's a brilliant album nod

I just heard the first two tracks on their myspace page- they sound pretty good!

this album was a big favourite of mine from last year as well. i would have never thought to compare them to the arcade fire, but now that you've mentioned it i have to admit they've got a similar feel, though i don't think the national are nearly as bombastic.

the national's vocalist is an absolute dead ringer for stuart staples from the tindersticks, if anybody remembers them. edit - well, dead ringer might be overstating it a touch, but there's a similarity for sure.

Uhm, after reading such hot reviews of people whom's taste I respect, I cannot wait to get my hands on this.
