Apparently Cruise Control was considered as a lead off single earlier:

From MDJ:

Meanwhile, we just discovered an old entry made by PD Erik Bradley on his B96 blog. On August 23, 2007, he wrote: MC is BACK...almost! : "It's only a few short days away...get ready for new music from Mariah Carey! She's saying her new single "Cruise Control" is her best uptempo since "Fantasy" (and we LOVED that one!) I CAN NOT WAIT!" As we all know, things have changed since then!

Kelly Rowland mentions Mariah:

Kelly Rowland, in an exclusive interview with Sam from That Grape Juice last Thursday in London.

You're obviously enjoying a lot of success this year with 'Work', with the upcoming re-release and whatnot, but there are also a few releases from other female heavy-weights this year- including Janet and Mariah. Whose projects are you looking forward to this year?

"I love Mariah. I really can't wait to see what Mariah does. I was really looking forward to Alicia Keys as well and I'm definitely satisfied with the album that she brought. Janet Jackson, I can't wait to see what she's gonna bring."

FYI:

SexForYaStereo from FOMM called to Khop in the morning and the 2 DJs (a guy and a girl) told it's been pushed back again, and last they heard was that it would possibly be early March.

Its a game right now to really keep Mariah's name out there, that simple. In talking with my contact Sonya, she said that they told her the album is not done as of yet. Plus she hasnt been called to give any feedback on Mariah or hasnt been called to give ideas on how much her company will be purchasing to send to her stores. She said no one at Universal even mentioned Mariah and APRIL 1st at all, nor did they suggest a single. Their focus of all conversations was about the Janet Album for now. So its like i said before labels cannot handle major releases like this anymore, its not the 80's, so they may "Talk" about diva battles between Mariah,Janet and Madonna, but these 3 are gonna be spaced out so far between each other so they have no chances of cutting into one and others sales. My guess, a single or video by april and an album by May/June

Does that mean today? Tuesday? Sorry, but if nothing major is released today in news or music regarding Mariah, I'm moving on. The play by play of their indecision is annoying. Get it together then let the folks know. We really shouldn't be privvy to all this behind the scenes nonsense.

Priceless, I'll check in periodically throughout the month but could you be a dear and org me if anything major breaks? I'd appreciate it.

Heard 90 seconds of it on a promo disc at Record Runner here in NYC. And its like i feared, expect it to leak out any day now if it hasnt already. He's got the album down for March 31st release date (euro only) but no official date for the album in america yet.

What i got from the 90 seconds were a more "raw" sounding Mariah, the tempo was her usual but something in her vocals sounded a bit more "live" than in the past and sexual sounding which she never has been able to really pull off, she does have more of that on this than ever. I just wish it was faster, but maybe when i hear a full version and not a piece from a promo disc that was copied ffrom another promo disc, thats why im surprised its not all over the place already.

OMG Guys read this:

Mariah Carey's first single from her forthcoming album, That Chick, due in stores April 1, is titled "Touch My Body" and is finally radio-ready! The song was co-written by MC with The Dream and was produced by Tricky. The Dream and Tricky were the hitmaking duo behind Rihanna's "Umbrella." There's no doubt that Carey can meet expectations but will she exceed them? We'll know by Tuesday (2/12) when the single is officially digitally delivered to radio programmers across the country for reports on 2/18.

Well to me outside of the tempo seeming familar production wise it seems unlike anything from her, at least to me.

It was catchy, im not sure why they debated over this being the first single. Seems perfect to be a lead single.

"Touch My Body" Directed by Brett Ratner

Mariah is shooting the music video to "Touch My Body" over this weekend - February 9th and 10th in an undisclosed location in Los Angeles, California. Below are the details currently known to us about the video shoot:

The director of the video is Brett Ratner who previously directed "I Still Believe", "Heartbreaker", "Thank God I Found You", "It's Like That" and "We Belong Together".

Auditions were held for some parts in the video on Wednesday, February 6 in Santa Monica. One of the roles required a "geeky" looking guy.

Actor Jack McBrayer, known for his role as Kenneth on NBC's 30 Rock will be appearing in the video.

Brett better do a good video. I dont think she has had a great video yet, the directors she uses seem to always miss it with her, she has good ones, but they just miss it all the time. Brett does alot of videos and i hope he put some thinking into it

Why doesn't she start dating her bodyguard? They're always together anyway. Nice body. Tall. And he doesn't look suspect like whats-his-face.
