Comeback is the word they use so everyone runs out to buy it, its the new HYPE word. Just put out your record, stop telling me its a comeback, i really could care less about LA's opinion. And just to prove its a HYPE word, here are some other "comeback" labeled records coming this year, Usher, No Doubt, Coldplay, Shakira, just to name a few, none of these are comebacks, everytime you record its not a "comeback". I am having my expectations REALLY LOW for both album just as I was for Emancipation of Mimi and 20 YO, so that it will be good. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

New article from Billboard (2 New Tracks Revealed)
Mariah Carey has set an April 1 release date for the follow-up to her mega-selling album "The Emancipation of Mimi," which was the biggest selling album of 2005. Dubbed "That Chick," the set features production from Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am and Rodney Jerkins, plus collaborations with the likes of T-Pain and Damian Marley. The album veers between breezy pop tunes like "Lovin' You Long Time" and the title track, ballads like "Love Story" and urban club bangers like the standout "Migrate." The latter features T-Pain in a guest slot, providing the counterpoint to Carey's anthemic "single girls on the town" lyrics with the killer line: "Don't wait for me to buy drinks, or you're going to dehydrate." Other highlights include the frisky R&B of "Touch My Body," with Carey cooing, "If there's a camera up in here then I best not catch this flick on YouTube," and the catchy "OOC" -- short for "out of control." There's also a new sound for Carey on "Cruise Control," which features Marley and sees the artist try her hand at Jamaican patois. "It's kind of strange but I heard a lot of her records and it sound like the album is better than the last album," Dupri recently told Billboard. Here is the track list for "That Chick": "Lovin' You Long Time" "Touch My Body" "That Chick" "Thanx for Nothin'" "For the Record" "Migrate" "Cruise Control" "Love Story" "OOC" "Bye Bye" Note: There are now 12 known tracks from the album - the list above plus the previously reported "For Real, For Real" and "Heat." Sometimes I can't afford to buy an album right when it comes out...However, I've picked up Mariah's late a few times, and I've always liked Mariah's albums. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I think both, the Janet Jackson album cover and the one for the new Mariah Carey record, look like what album covers should look like. Good to see the mainstream names re-introduce some type of stylized imagery back to their products.

Sweet Soul Odyssey woulda been the GROOVIEST album title of her career
And the album cover could've portrayed an illustrative theme to go with the title(ala concept albums of the 70s) with a plot-line too. But considering that she's working with ghetto plastic producers,,,,SSO wouldn't be a fitting title. Harlepolis is LIVID right now

In hearing someone say about this Mariah album, it might be her first "Sexy Record", and i thought about it and realized what they meant. Mariah has the habit of "holding" back with her music, videos etc.. basically her image doesnt fit what she does, this mainly has been more evident in her later years since 1997, as her sound became for "non pop" she at times seems to be playing a part, not that all singers dont really play some kind of part, Mariah tends to struggle to pull this off. But in hearing a few talk on this record, they are saying, and even Mariah has said this just a sexy party record for the most part, i think she feels the "pressure" is off her at this point, coming off of Mimi and also satisfying her contract at this point and the future will see where she goes. Exactly, im thinking the worst, im not listening to LA's hype considering he's hyped some shit in his day. I figure if i lower the bar to almost nothing for these two discs i may actually listen to them more than a few times.
