i'm still bothered though by that weird thing behind her chair? dress? pfff Sorta looks like the cushion of a chair. That chick. That chick?! I can't, dammit, I can't. As for the hat... maybe she was tired of hearing people talk about her clothes so she decided not to wear any. Too short? Too low cut? To hell with all that. I'll go naked. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

That cover makes me like this: That title makes me like this: It's bad enough that she's doing a song called "That Chick" but naming the album like that? That's just really sad and desperate. Especially coming from someone who made such a great comeback album last time out. I liked "Sweet Soul Odyssey" so much better, but I wonder whether the soulful tracks that she wrote for the album gut dumped because it didn't appeal to the fans of Soulja Boy and Hurricane Chris, who have to have hip-hop beats over everything. This just gives me bad feelings about the album.

I wonder if we make enough of a stink we can get her/them to change the album title? Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I'm not sure how i feel about the title. though at the same time i'm glad it got shortened to That Chick.

I could understand though if it actually a strong song on the latest offering. We haven't heard it.

Two things i have learned in my years around releases and that stuff.
1. Dont believe anyones judgement from a listening party. TRUST ME on this, the louder you play something the more you think its good and the more gorgeous women at the listening party the better bad songs sound. Case in point when i went to the NEW POWER SOUL listening party at the Spy Bar, lots of hot women, celebs, blasting music, open bar, that album sounded like the next SIGN O THE TIMES. 2. DONT believe artists or label reps about their upcoming albums. Case in point, this last year when i heard "john taylor of Duran Duran" say that this new Duran Duran album was the most band like album? And a label person actually said you couldnt tell Timbaland was even involved. Right there is some first class BULLSHIT people, that was the most un-band like album, and timbaland is so present his fat ass should have been on the cover. As for Mariah, i dont like the title at all, it sounds to throwaway, how do you go from "sweet soul odyssey " to "that chick", not really sure, how about just calling it "odyssey" if they were worried about calling it "soul" So i'll wait and hear the first single to get an idea, though im not impressed with the review of these songs, but then again, thats going on someones reviews. LA Reid to Billboard:
"Ms. Mariah is on fire," Island Def Jam chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid says. "I don't want to hype the record, but she writes all her own songs. Of her producers, the most interesting to me is DJ Toomp, but she's also working with Stargate, Scott Storch, Danja and will.i.am." --- i remember the DJ Toomp record was said -by him- to be an 808 driven record.

DJ Toomp did stuff for T.I.'s breakthrough album King, and something on Kanye West's... "Can't Tell Me Nuthin" I believe.

I just wish she would use more euro type producers, not necessarily sounding euro so much but just to get a different vibe, case in point maybe some of the producers that Hilary Duff used on the "Dignity" record which was a freaking masterpiece, or even just some different american producers, case in point the producers that Amerie had on her best record "Because i love it" like Cee-loo green. Storch i really dont like, Danja is hit or miss, and will i am, well he's ok but so overused and no variety its just gonna sound like someone else. "Irreplaceable" was popular because of Neyo's input. And now that same beat and sound will go on every single record but a different female, that is the issue no one has a freaking identity anymore. and whats with LA's comments, "she writes her songs" first of all she always has, and second of all, i wouldnt exactly brag about some of the lyrics i have heard pointed out in these new songs.
