what she's sayin is she doesn't wanna be vivica foxx yanno if she gives it to you she doesn't wanna find it in youtube.. I remember that! She was excited about that shoutout wasn't she? I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I think she'll swing by the station when the album comes out. She called up just for the release of M.
I remember one time she was at the station and I had been waiting all day to hear her but was scheduled for an early dinner with friends. I was so distracted. I had one earbud in and was trying to listen to Wendy and Mariah while my friends were chatting about unimportant things like their lives and stuff. It was torture. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Im not really worried mainly because Mariah is Mariah, it is what it is at this point from her. I think once she got her "appeal" back to the majority of the country and not just her loyal fans, Mariah really doesnt give a damn at this point, shes going to do what she has always done case closed. I think the media probably will expect this to do MIMI numbers but i think everyone with a "brain" is realistic, and knows that just isnt going to happen, i think if they can acheive half of it they should be satisfied, i think curiousity alone will give her that. I think with MIMI mariah was more tense mainly because if it didnt work, i think she might have gotten cut early, lets not forget this is her last for the label, so she will become a free agent. I think this album is going to be Mariah's very "loose" record, there really isnt that feeling of "if this doesnt sell im done type of vibe with the media either".
So all in all i dont really care about radio and what they play or how and where the single lands, i think now "singles" are for the "kids" and Albums are for the adults, and thats really the way they are thinking FINALLY. But i think with a solid, sexy, mariah-like video, something over the top, the single will move just on that, and really singles sales have always been her strong suit, her airplay with the exception of a few "mimi" songs has not been her "thing" since the Butterfly album, so i wouldnt be surprised if her airplay wasnt there for this record. Mariah never did such sex focused lyrics. Such a disapointement. Well, "Loverboy" was quite dirty if you listen closely... I kinda dig her NC-17 stuff over the pop ballads.

What is THIS? The song seems laid back and catchy, but.... Where´s the passion of Fly Like a Bird, Butterfly, etc.? And looking at the new pictures of her in pink looking like a Barbie doll, I can image the rest. So far I am dissapointed. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Actually, you're somewhat incorrect. Since the introduction of the digital format, singles sales have not been Mariah's strength. All of the Mimi singles that hit were hits solely based on airplay. The queens of digital are Rihanna and Fergie, which is why they can even hit with singles that don't crossover to Rhythmic or Urban formats. Mariah will need airplay if she wants to get a hit.

I've only heard the new song one time, and while the melody is sort of catchy, it just seemed a little generic. I suppose it will grow on me though, but I don't see this being a massive single like "We Belong Together" or "Honey". Like someone else said earlier, it will probably make a big splash on the charts but go away relatively quickly. I do like that she is changing the title of the album to E=MC2. It's a cute reference and fits her style and personality.

Hmm, VC, are you trying to extinguish any infinitesimal spark of joy we find out of this dreadful lead single? No. But I will provide stats. Deja Vu actually had 13 million first day, 70 million first week. I don’t pay attention to stats but not surprised about Déjà vu. That song was hot from the very beginning. It wasn’t a grower, it didn’t need a video. It was just H-O-T altho I do remember quite a few radio listeners complaining that they hated it. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

It wasn’t a grower, it didn’t need a video. It was just H-O-T altho I do remember quite a few radio listeners complaining that they hated it. Deja Vu had huge play at the beginning just because it was Beyonce and she was coming off the DIL album. I anticipate the same for this, maybe to a bit of a lesser extent. But as you said the callout was horrible, the video helped kill it and the song peaked briefly at 100 million A.I. despite getting 70 million the first week out. Then it went into free fall. Ring The Alarm then flopped and then they came out with Irreplaceable, which peaked at around 230 million A.I. and stayed there for a while (WBT still holds the record with 260 million A.I., Alicia Keys' No One peaked at 190 million because they did a staggered release to different formats). It's funny because the Call on Me comparisons keep coming. That track debuted at #67 at Pop radio after leaking in the afternoon with 229 spins. Mariah's track comes in at #60 with 213 spins. Super-fun to follow this track at radio. I am going to predict: 1. This will debut inside the Top 40 at Pop for the official update on Sunday afternoon. 2. I anticipate +1000 bullets at Pop and Rhythmic (but probably not at Urban) after a week of play. Surprisingly Z100 did not jump all over this (3 spins yesterday), but then they have never liked Mariah much, and were one of the final holdouts to add We Belong Together.
