If so, that means she would have been the lead character in the video game as well.

I'm sure that was the role. Aaliyah eventually got the part - Jada only got it after Aaliyah passed away tragically. Lisa Lopes was also up for that part - what female R&B star wasn't up for it?

no... Jada didn't replace Aaliyah.... Aaliyah was cast as Zee and Nona Gaye took over the role after Aaliyah's death

Actually, I was thinking it could have been a few different characters since she didn’t emphasize which Matrix and most people clump all three films together under ‘The Matrix’. Maybe she was going to be Switch from the first film, altho I doubt it. Or maybe it was Gina Torres' character. And let's not forget it could have been someone later casted of anther race. Not necessarily a black actor.

Or maybe it was very early on before many of the key characters were solidified and Will Smith would have been Neo. I wonder how much more acting she would have done if she didn’t have this little singing gig. razz

Alls' i know is the movie probably would've been even bigger than it actually was had Janet taken the role. Can you imagine Janet in the movie, THE MATRIX? I mean, actually doing martial arts!!!!! Aww, i would love to see some shit like that!!!!! eek

I think this could be Janet's 17th #1 R&B Single if Def Jam plays its cards right. They need to work this to the other formats immediately. I know they weren't expecting it to debut on the R&B charts so early.

Yeah, i certainly hope it does well. But, the pattern has been that as soon as her singles start to do really well, radio all of a sudden abandon's it.
It just sounds like a set up for Janet to fail. That's why like I've said before, I believe LA Reid knows how radio is concerning Janet. He's stressed that he wants units of her albums to sell. He didn't mention singles. He wants the album to have longevity.

R&B radio has never abandoned Janet. Hell, Pop radio really hasn't, either. If you look at her singles standalone, they have flopped for one valid reason or another.

Call on Me was huge at R&B, going Top 5 on the airplay charts (and that was a shit song). It debuted inside the Top 40 at Pop radio, but its callout was SO DAMN BAD that they basically dumped it immediately and it peaked at #32 at Pop radio.

Feedback was way too dance-pop for Rhythmic or Urban, but it did peak at #29 on Pop radio. Unfortunatley, the fault for its failure lies squarely on the shoulders of JANET, who did absolutely no fucking promotion when there should have been multiple live radio interviews going down every day, public appearances, etc. After 2 flop albums, you don't just stick a single out there and not promote it, expecting it to do well. Mariah promotes like hell because she works for what she wants, and I respect that. For some reason, Janet just doesn't give a shit. So, Feedback was a flop.

R&B radio will support Luv no matter what.

Unless you're The Eagles or Josh Groban at Christmas, singles matter to maintain interest in an album and to keep sales steady. To have longeivity they are going to need big singles, and although LA hasn't said it, he damn well knows it.

Then the fools decided to release Rock With U as a single, which is going to go absolutely nowhere fast. So hopefully they will see how well Luv is doing at only 2 formats (Urban and Urban AC) and send it to Pop and Rhythmic and shoot a video for it.

But as of last week she was going to be shooting the Rock With U video with Saam. I was like, FUCK, is he going to fuck up a second video in a row, and for a single that is DOA???

I believe either Ruby Dee or Janet will win for best supporting actress in a dramatic role. But, it looks as if it may be Ruby Dee. She's already won a SAGG Award and she's up for an OSCAR for her role.

The best way i can discribe it is it's mid-tempo. It has thumpin' bass, it break up then joins/comes together. It has attitude and swagger. Janet sings in a matter of factly tone of voice. It just comes across really well to me. It's sheer heaven!!!!! razz
Some say it sounds better than FEEDBACK, ROCK WITH YOU and LUV. A matter of opinion, i know. But, to me it put's LUV to shame and LUV was my favorite UNTIL I heard ROLLERCOASTER. wink

Call on me was boring but So excited should have done better, had it been released by Britney it definitely would have done better in the charts.

So Excited didn't do well because, most importantly, it wasn't sent for adds at Pop radio. Also, she was mumbling over most of it...and the lyrics were too raunchy.

Rollercoaster should definitely be a single. nod
