Tears For Fears: Sowing The Seeds Of Love

http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related

If you want to do a Beetles type song with Princey inflections, this one damned good way to attempt. One of my favorite tunes.

eek Weird! This came on while my Ipod was on shuffle and I've been repeating it and listening to this song all day. Never really liked it before. But I must say, it is a great song.

actually I don't gauge a sniff of Prince in this song.

a lot of the arrangement choices seem to be from "Strawberry Fields Forever", but try and write a song like The Beatles and it's not as easy as they made it seem on "Sowing the Seeds..".

Whole album seems overproduced to hell, but Iam all for it LOL.

Its ripping the beatles off I guess. "Iam the walrus" on the veres being the obvious nod. Pastiche to the beatles perhaps? The solo is nothing like them though, so hodge-podge may be a better word.

YES!

Actually now that you mention it, the drum work sounds like "Walrus" too.

EVERYTHING Tears for Fears makes is overproduced to hell! lol I think it's why Curt bailed out on Roland for awhile.

I love 'em, though.

Nothing special, just a pastiche of I Am The Walrus. Better tributes were made by The Rutles - Piggy In The Middle and The Dukes Of Stratosphear (XTC) - The Mole From The Ministry. At least they didn't have a sly dig at Paul Weller in the lyrics...

Probably.
But I still love it.

Cool tune. But I always wondered what Paul Weller thought of the line "Kick out the Style, bring back the Jam....". hmmm

Pretty clever, if you ask me. smile

He was once asked about this in an interview and his reply was basically 'Who cares? What are TFF doing nowadays?'

Last I heard they put out a comeback album and tour, "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending" back in 2004.

Yes, that's true. And I might add, that "comeback" album is quite good. It's kinda a continuation of Sowing the Seeds really. I think Roland even said if Sowing was John Lennon, then Everybody Loves A Happy Ending is Paul McCartney. It's a great album with great songs/melodies/textures etc. Just don't expect an 80's new wave retro sound and you just might dig it.

I like Woman in Chains a lot, but the rest of this album shake

They turned into a bad cover band on this album.

There are some good songs on STSOL and Woman In Chains is one the best songs ever made but overall not one of my faves. I think Everybody Loves A Happy Ending is a way better album. Just threw it in last night. cool

I agree. I love the 3 singles, but I do think ELAHE works better as an album (albeit one that is a little too long).
