Start with this...
Her debut is the most important I guess,,,but the rest of her 70s stuff are also as important. Her song "No Regrets" is devastating I had an impression that she was a black woman for a long looong time,,,,untill I discovered that she is Jewish(same time I discovered her music) Faaaabulous vocalist! I took heed when Chaka, Vesta and Stephanie said they enjoy her music alot.

I'm still not sure of her mother's racial background. That SECOND CHILDHOOD is one superb album. Her work on STILL CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS is what really got me into Paul Simon's music. I'm not toofond of NEVER LETTING GO; they tried to force her into being a r&b/disco star but she's more a folk-blues-jazz singer (a la Cassandra Wilson). I really love her latter-day releases and and . You can also catch on her on the NY Rock & Soul Revue that features Phoebe Snow, Donald Fagan, Charles Brown, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs test

Interesting. I got one random song she did on a comp from 1990. I thought she was white LOL. Song ain't bad actually. One of the producers on that cut was Wally "Mariah carey" Affansief. [Edited 1/7/08 17:04pm]
