cool How does that Heatwave LP sound...I haven't heard it...not even when it was released, because of non radio play.
[Edited 1/8/08 15:48pm]

Still pretty funky, only with updated Synths and shit mixed in the production. Like a typical Soul record from 1982. wink

You can actually listen to it here: http://heatwave72.com/audio/lp5.html

Is this a good album? I keep seeing it in different used record stores, but never have bothered to pick it up.

It's a straight up, back to basics, stripped down jazz album. The only complaints I've heard are from people who don't like Chaka or don't like jazz. If you fall into either of those catagories,...don't bother.

I've noticed here that the majority of you have picked mostly Soul, Funk, Jazz, and Pop albums. There's some Rock and New Wave here and there. But I don't see too many Hard Rock/Heavy Metal albums. Or Hip-Hop for that matter. This is the only Hip-Hop album that I can think of at the moment that I dug:

And this is the only Hard Rock album that I can think of that I dug:

But surely, some of y'all can think of others.

I would have included this one too, but thought it was from 1983 until I just looked up the release date which was October of 1982:

I meant to post this last year, when it was more appropriate. But I got to lazy and put it off. But now I feel like posting it. Basically, orgers, I'd like to know what your favorite albums are from 25-26 years ago. I have a whole lot, as it turns out. In fact, I think during this year a lot of these artists made some of the best music of their careers. It's still good today as it was back then too. Here's some of mine. Only some for right now. wink

That's a nice mix of stuff u've got there. U got good taste...

GQ.....had a single in 1982 "Sad Girl" even though the album was released in '81. I don't care, I loved GQ. razz

Agree with The Time. Vanity 6....Rick James. The Cure. Prince/1999. Thriller. Culture Club was just remarkable! George Clinton. Absolutely. The Gap Band. nod Zapp.

Remember The Youth of Today....Musical Youth (Pass the Dutchie)? I still love that song.

I was a Bar-Kays fan and saw them 3 or 4 times live. Once with Hot Chocolate.

The single, Planet Rock, was released in '82, although the album was later. imo he should be in the 2008 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Not as good as Fantastic Voyage, but I still bought it.

Remember Kleeer?

lol Hey, I'm fortunate to still own them. Back when the CD era began, I bought my first disc player in 84, not buy choice either. It came with the home entertainment system...I remember asking the clerk if he could take it off and charge less for the system lol. I started getting cd's in promo packages from the record labels, and bought my very first CD in 87, Sade's Diamond Life & EWF's Touch The World.

I forgot about "Your Wish Is My Command", that was a favorite of mine in '82.
That Queen cover reminds me of another favorite from Billy Squier "Emotions In Motion" from '82.

I guess you can say that this would be my favorite "Jazz" album of 1982. Although I would file it under "Smooth Jazz" or "Jazz Funk". But it's still pretty good though:

I got a few others:
