Y'all missed a few of my favorites:
Gap Band - Gap Band IV Marvin Gaye - Midnight Love Split Enz - Time and Tide While I don't own this one, it was the Grammy winner for Album of the Year and the first and last tracks are fantastic: I also don't have a copy of H2O by Hall and Oates, but the singles are great. Yo I bought this for the title track... haven't really checked out the rest! It's...different. It takes a few listens before you can really digest it, but if you give it a chance, you can definitely see what they were after. "Loveland" is just Kate and Cindy's voices are every bit as amazing as Mariah or Whitney's.... BTW, did you buy it on LP or on disc? If you bought the Party Mix/Mesopotamia disc, the Mesopotamia half is a 1990 remix that took a lot of the Byrne out, and kind of mellowed the production I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I always got the impression he was older. 38 bloody years old, to be exact - not quite ready to be fitted for a wheelchair or a colostomy bag or anything yet, but i'm definitely not a kid anymore. Looking at those album covers, 1982 seemed to be a great year for R&B (mostly of the upbeat dancable vareity), alt rock and dance pop even though if you listen to the Top 40, it was still a lot of light pop rock and country crossover (which was very much light pop rock with a slight twang).
Prince' "1999" is easily my favorite album from 1982 with the silver going to MJ's "Thriller". I know it's the biggest seller of all time (well, at least the biggest selling studio album of all time since the Eagles Hits set often comes into conflict with it), but I've always been more of a Prince fan (look where I am). While not a 1982 album, one of my favorite collections is titled "Billboard's Top Dance Hits of 1982" and features songs that either topped or nearly topped the charts. Includes staple upbeat jams like Patrice's "Forget Me Nots" and Dazz Band "Let It Whip" as well as dance classics like Cheri's "Murphy's Law" and D-Train's "You're the One". It's mostly R&B focused but stuff Paul Parker's "Right On Target" and Patrick Cowley's "Megatron Man" are the two expections (and are both seem to be Cowley tracks). Really good stuff.

Oh, I've got a whole lot more
(for those that can't read the small print, this is Lora Logic's solo LP, "Pedigree Charm", that is a brilliant piece of Post-Punk/Funk that I don't think anyone here really knows about.) I like this album too, Alex. Can't forget this one. I haven't heard this one in almost 20 years though. But I still do remember it like it was yesterday though. I'm not even halfway done yet!
