However,Janet is a pop/dance artist.

I haven't heard anything "danceable" from her since the "Rhythm Nation" album, with the exception of the song "Throb". She's slowed her tempo down and weakened things with shit hop.

For the type of audience that she is trying to reach, the Jam and Lewis sound is stale and played out.

They haven't had their own sound in over 15 years. They sound like everyone else which is a damn shame. Selling out is never pretty.

Those projects are good. That is all that is nessarcy. Seems to me Jam & Lewis got better when they got away from Janet.

Funny, because I like all three of those albums. I haven't liked Jam & Lewis in some time but those were good ones for me.

I'm not saying I don't like these projects, but there are no new or fresh ideas on them.

U didn't like "All For You", "Come On Get Up", or "Together Again"? Those are straight DANCE records. The remixes for "Together Again" are excellent. I also forgot to mention the Brothers In Rhythm remix of "If". It kicks major ass.

I personally thought "enjoy" and "take care" were fresh. Janet should still work with J&L but not for an entire project

OMG!!! I so love those two songs. They were beautifully sung and the music was great. ENJOY has such feeling and orthodox emotion in it to me.

Yes it was definite stand out of the album. Takes me back to "Special"

Take Care is very emotive...it touches my heart and makes me feel the lonliness in the same time

I don't think I said anything about this yet.

Nobody can deny that Janet found her sound with Jam and Lewis. Those early albums are for the most part embarassing because they tried to hard to fight into an innocent image and Janet got lost trying to play a character. They also didn't compilment her voice. They weren't terrible but they were mostly pre-fab. Any studio singer could have done them.

Even with her recent work with others, Janet isn't going into that terrortory at least. But still even if you ended up getting attached to DJ (in parts, if not as a whole), it's hard to deny that "20 YO" shows not only no growth but nothing exciting that made Janet albums worth getting into. That isn't holy Jam and Lewis fault. JD...adding his JDness to tracks didn't help at all and made the album mostly the bore fest that it was. Even if there was any place to be made at Jam and Lewis, it was for not trying to take it into another direction and basically making a very predictable album, whether it was their idea or not.

As much as I like DJ, this album ended up pushing Jam and Lewis further in the background and Janet's expirmentions with others sometimes worked but not always. Now going back (or forward) to "20 YO", you think J&L would have heard the strenghs and weaknesses of that album and improved upon it...they didn't, so maybe this total seperation could be a good thing and if they do work in the future, all three will know excatly what to do.
