I listened to the Cure today, for the first time on my own.

This isn't a group I've been a fan of. This was the first time I listened to them on my own, without my boyfriend playing it. He's played them a lot for me, and it just never clicked for me.

But I listened to "Disintegration" at work today (I have all their stuff on my iPod, strangely enough), and I fucking LOVED IT!

It really hit me right between the eyes. The entire thing. Based on this album alone, this might actually be a group I could take on as "one of my own."

woot!

Disintegration is a classic nod my absolute favorites are 'fascination street' lullaby, lovesong, pictures of you, and the title track nod I think i fell in love with the cure around the same time I fell for U2 when I saw them on Mtv at a live concert at RedRocks in the 80s. memories mushy

sometimes the best way to listen to music is by yourself in order to pick up what you like and don't like. alot of times I've rediscovered tracks on albums that I thought I did not like at first.

that's usually how it is for me. no matter how much a friend plays something, I have to "discover" it on my own, for myself, even if them playing it helped me to do that.

I've listened to them before,
but not on my own.

yup. after years of hearing it in the house and car, i saw her do Pip in Toronto and it was a revelation, even though i'd already seen her twice on the Beekeeper tour. she got me.

so far, i've listened to Disintegration, Three Imaginary Boys, Faith, Seventeen Seconds and Pornography.

I can dig this. I can get into them. Must force myself to not become obsessed, like I usually do.

Thanks, babe. You opened the door. It just takes, as with so many things, the willingness to walk through it.

"Disintegration", the song, is the shit! The best song on the entire album. Reminds me of Joy Division in all the right ways...

I'm on the brink of it, trust me. But that leads to bad habits that I'm trying to break, so I'm taking it slow for now lol

So today, I listened to The Top, The Head On The Door, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me and Disintegration (again).

Excellent run there. The Head On The Door and Disintegration are by far my favorites right now. Looking forward to listening to Wish, since that's the only one that has a song on it that I knew before I met my boyfriend biggrin (Friday I'm In Love).
