I love the fact that even with the obveious NY sound from Sugar Hill production, it still didn't hide their country-ness.

These Chicks a female pioneers right up there with Sha Rock,Sweet & Sour,Debbie Dee,Lisa Lee,Wanda Dee, and The Mercedes Ladies. I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back. I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there. I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. And I am

Now THAT is something I can work with. I often hit compilations as a sort of guidebook to hunt down artists that sound good to me.

Amazon say the original release is 1999 The tracklist got my heart skipping a double-beat there're things I've been trying to track down for the longest.

Amazon often is wrong with release dates.

The boxset includes a complete listing of the catalog inside, however, not every track Sugarhill Records ever released appears on those five discs.
One track I had to find elsewhere? Positive Force "We Got The Funk" Other songs that are missing are admittedly more obscure.
