I've heard a lot about this album, but I doubt it would crack my top 10. This year has been sooooo solid!

I don't get all my Cds for the year until the gift certificates come rolling in and then hit up the year-end clearances. MeShell is definitely "on the list", but I'm at a complete loss as what was "sooooo solid" about the year. I bought mostly reissues (Sly, Betty & Miles Davis). Maybe you could elaborate? I just need titles & artist. Exposition isn't necessary.

LCD Soundsystem- Sound of Silver
!!!- Myth Takes
Chromeo- Fancy Footwork
Kylie Minogue- X (I know I'll get ripped for that one)
Annie Lennox- Songs of Mass Destruction
Björk- Volta
Bat for Lashes- Fur and Gold (2007 US release)
Arcade Fire- Funeral
Prince- Planet Earth (yes, I said it!)
P.J. Harvey- White Chalk
Justice-
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Is Is EP
Blonde Redhead- 23
Deborah Harry- Necessary Evil

I haven't heard Meshell's album, but I probably will like all of these better, based on her previous albums. That said, all of the hype I've heard here makes me interested in hearing it. thumbs up!

It's getting some good reviews too: http://www.metacritic.com...ofmydreams

It's also popped up on a few year-end lists.

Not intending to flame, but our tastes bear little in common, so I'm not feeling deprived if the indie rock/electronica genre is having a solid year.

Meshell is my fave of the year. Hands down.

Others:

Radiohead-In Rainbows (Full v)
NIN-Year Zero
Chaka Kahn-Funk This
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

same here... it has it's moments as far as I'm concerned. But it's not growing on me with each listen. Lovely Lovely, Elliptical and Relief: A Stripper Classic are the only ones that really stick with me. I just don't hear it as one of the best of 2007. I think Dance of the Infidel was a better album and more groundbreaking for her.

Since you spoke in such grandiose terms you kinda had to provide some kind of substaniation. The up-side is, at least, I had to look up most of the things you listed. biggrin

i've heard most of the stuff on your list and own at least half of it, yeah f*&k a critic, they've over hyped many of albums for me in the past. just because Me'shell is under the radar doesn't mean she can't hang. This is one of the roughest albums i've heard in a long time.

shrug I'm not the one trying to change anyone's mind. I'm just saying that the snarky comments made about my list aren't (1) mature, (2) relevant or (3) justified from a critical point of view.

Take it easy, man. hug lol

We're just trying to get you to check the album, that's all. lol

There's some really cool stuff on your list:

Bat for Lashes, Bjork, BlondeRedhead, Chromeo, though Justice does gets a bit annoying after a while. wink

Did you check the clip?

I'm sure my bro will play the album for me soon! I'm not sure what to expect, and I'm a little wary as her previous albums haven't done much for me.

I can't check the clip because I'm at work. lurking I know she has oodles of talent though.

uh, apparently you don't know Moonbeam that well, he tends to break music down into molecules, he's kind of like a microscope with ears and articulate a very scientific analysis of the music he's vibin' to. so, yeah, you're going up a slippery slope.

You should see his review of the 1999 album, it's legendary! worship
