Still can't believe Lenny's goin' into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before Lou Reed.confused Maybe LC's age (73) and financial crisis (http://www.macleans.ca/ar...ource=srch) had something to do with it?

As for Madge - with her influence on pop culture - how could she not be a first-balloter? It's a no-brainer.

Should be an interesting end-of-show jam...

If Madonna is in, they might as well disband the HOF.

Madonna is one the best entertainers ever and i would of loved to fuck her back in the day(still would) but she has little talent in comparison to some of the artists previously inducted

Regardless of what people think about Madonna as a talent, she MORE than DESERVES to get in. I am really happy for her! Congrats Madge!

If her album is a hit, Janet might get in next year (you know this shit is all bought and paid for anyway).

really?

Madonna doesn't have a star on the walk of fame because she doesn't want to pay for it or see the need for it.

Madonna gets in on the year of her 50th and also the year when she has a new album coming out.

Perhaps she will purchase a star when she feels the need.

I think Madonna probably feels differently about Hollywood Walk of Fame. No matter what RRHOF is still an accomplishment because of the time required (25 years). Meanwhile Ryan Seacrest has a star. Kinda cheapens it.

Well im just glad John is in since he missed out 3 times and then got dropped from the ballot, and during those years i saw acts go in that shouldnt even be considered. But it will be interesting to see what Madonna does, if she even performs, like i said though only interested in what Mellencamps going to do. As for Janet, who knows when she'll get in or get on the ballot if she ever will, but theres a much bigger list of those that have been overlooked well longer than she has.

The Hall of Fame has just become another cheap lifetime achievement award that will be given to anyone who says they will show up.

As far as this years inductees well im just glad John Mellencamp finally got in, missing out twice then getting dropped off the ballot, while others who couldnt hold a candle to him were getting in was disturbing. Im let down that Chic didnt get in but not surprised, the hall has not been kind at all to the disco era at all, it took a petition and fund raiser to get the Bee Gees even on the ballot and finally in, the Hall felt those disco years were a "tarnish" on their past stuff. So im not surprised the way the hall has treated anyone from that time period. But also lets address the race factor too, is the hall racist? overall in their thinking most likely, but as someone said its also very SEXIST even more than racist in its views, the fact that there is NOT one SOLO rock female in their clearly shows it, they are either RB divas or Folk artists or leaders of a group, but women on the whole are not even looked at.

I think it's revolting that Madonna got in before Donna Summer. Nothing against Madonna going in, but Summer should have been in there before her or at least at the same time.

I dont mean 2 upset people...and even though I think Donna Summer is amazing in concert and the is a good singer and artist...she just didnt last as long as Madonna...Donna is still kinda livin on her old material..Maddy deserves it. She is the female re-inventionist...and still can sell millions 25 years in2 her career.

I sort of have to agree even though Donna is still making really strong songs here and there...they just aren't catching on with the public. What can do you do?

I think Madonna and Warners intentionally held back her album until April. They wanna take advantage of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame hype/press lol It's a smart marketing move,I admit.Madonna's gonna get alot of positive press in the coming months, which will help her album and tour.

Madonna talks about Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Posted: 15 December 2007 - From The Plain Dealer

Madonna has commented (via her representative) on the news that she is to be inducted into the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
'I was fortunate to have inducted my idol David Bowie a few years back, so to be included alongside him and so many other amazing artists that have come before me is an honor,' the pop icon said in a statement to The Plain Dealer, sent Friday through her publicist.
Madonna did indeed do the honors when Bowie was enshrined in 1996, although he chose not to attend the festivities.
Madonna is expected to be on hand for the Rock Hall's 23rd annual induction ceremony Monday, March 10, at New York City's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, her publicist said.
