Funkadelic's 'Jugular' really sounds like The Time The song 'Jugular' by Funkadelic has so many elements from songs by 'The Time' it can't be a coincidence. I think this song is a major foundation of 'The Time' sound.
#1 - Funky slap bass #2 - Morris sounding vocals (spoken moreso than sung). The lyrics also address a femme fatale ala 'Chocolate' and 'Sexy Socialite'. #3 - Long sustaining guitar riffs with distortion with simple synth chords #4 - Backing vocals from the boys in the band singing in unison #5 - Lead singer gives the band queues #6 - The transitions just sound like... The Time... throughout the song.

I've heard the BWOTD CD once and everything on it sounds like everybody except Funkadelic. From Cameo to Doug E. Fresh.

Funky title, but not a funky album

I didn't realize that this song's album was released in 1989 several years after 'The Time' hit the scene. Apparently it's more of a ripoff than an influence.

This was the long awaited BWOTD, too be honest, when the single was released back in the day, I wasn't too thrilled about it; Like any Funkadelic fan, I was still eager to hear the rest of the album. But, I disappointed when I finally heard it.

I'm kinda glad it was never officially released in the day. Sounds nothing like what I would expect from a Funkadelic lp. A few good tunes that's about it. They recorded about 3 more that never came out. There's even a Parliament lp called Upsouth recorded around the same time. Now the demos of that lp are tight.

I was just wondering if the demo tracks for BWOTD were @ least, better than the efforts that were thrown @ us. It seemed that Trey had too much input on this album. George should have let him continue to Yank his Doodle.
