Exactly the rap nominees very rarely are something even "artistic" its always some commercial junk, i mean TI and Jay Z nominated for best Rap Album? Really what happend to Mos Def, the labels that put their nominees out there very rarely take chances in the Rap field

Well he probably will just for losing out and what has happend, but like i said before this will put things in perspective for him, the difference between life and winning awards and what is really important. Though im into him he will probably win in a very weak category this year, though id go with Herbie, is it really fair to nominate him for covers?

The nominees for album of the year are "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace" by the Foo Fighters, "These Days" by Vince Gill, "River: The Joni Letters" by Herbie Hancock, "Graduation" by Kanye West and "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse.

I'm guessing these 2 don't have a snowball's chance in hell.
The musicianship is much too high.

In case everyone was wondering where the "favorite" Bruce Springsteen is, he was not eligible since he was released on October 2nd the Grammys new deadline is September 30th, so next grammys be ready for the Springsteen/Eagles Grammy Show. My guess is also that Amy Whinehouse is gonna be this years "india Arie" and "Billy Joel" basically up for alot possibly winning nothing, the grammys tends to do that, though i think she will probably get Best New Artist you really never know with the voting.
[Edited 12/6/07 9:59am]

It could happen. But deep down inside I am hoping and praying for a Amy sweep. Her talent is so huge and undeniable, and her sound is so fresh and genuine. She has made a great impact. I really think that people might respond strongly and actually vote talent this year and not superficial crap.

Or maybe I am giving these industry bozos more credit than they deserve. lol I can dream right??? lol

I mean really AKON being nominated???? Rhianna??? Give me a break!! No talent. It seems that its all about the biggest most popular songs these days. I thought the grammys for the most part were about actual musical talent. They used to be....

Jay-Z and to a much lesser extent TI have some depth and substance...."Soulja Boy" is a ringtone for people who ate paint chips as a kid!

Yes, they used to be. I remember the days when I would learn about great music from watching the Grammy's. Now, for the most part, it's just popular shit that they focus on. If you actually watch the show they do give awards to some terrific artists that are not household names and actually have talent.

Akon and Rihanna??? giggle

[Edited 12/7/07 1:25am]

If I'm not mistaken, Happy Feet came out in October or November 2006. The deadline for songs to be submitted to the Grammy committee is September 30th and as a result, Song of the Heart didn't make it in time for the 2007 Grammy's. That's the reason why it's nominated for the 2008 Grammy's. Hope that answerers your question Flowerz.biggrin
