i remeber when i watched her butterfly tour... her voice was sooo superior... I think its because mariah loves to drink wine and alcohols.. and I heard that destroys vocal cords... plus she loves to talk so much and stay up late.... i think all that has taken a toll on this womans voice...

omg her voice is SHOT! she must be doing some serious studio trickery on Emancipation of Mimi cuz it doesnt sound that bad. and WHO IN THE HELL TOLD HER SHE LOOKED CUTE IN THAT GD OUTFIT!?!?!? whoever that was needs to get beat! and the thing is, its not like her body is bad. comparatively speaking it's pretty bangin. but she doesnt have the body it takes to pull off that outfit. or any of her stage outfits from that tour for that matter. i saw her when she came to chicago and i just couldnt believe the things she was wearing. its like she is utterly clueless about her physical appearance. she could wear a million other outfits that would actually accentuate her assets! not this crap that only shows she's built like a linebacker. it all started to crumble when she got the implants in 99. she shifted the focus from her voice to her visual appeal and it did NOT WORK. she was so much prettier when she wasnt trying so damn hard. but with that said, i love me some mariah and will still be the first in line to cop that new cd. Yeah, her voice doesn't sound that great on that tune, but later on in the same DVD she sounds great singing "Fantasy." It almost sounds like she's lyp- singing on Fantasy becasue she sounds that much better, LOL. | |

Also, I just wanted to add that yes, she does focus a lot on her image and looking sexy on the DVD, and so her vocals suffer a little but not a whole lot I think its becasue the media has made her into this "sex cymbol" and she feels like she has to adhere to it...in addition, I think she wants to be appeal to her male fans as well, and her hip-hop teenage audience. So yes, I think she has a lot of shoes to fill to be able to appeal to various audiences. | |

yea i when she played chicago she definitely lipsynched on fantasy. this was when she came out on a ministage in the back of the main floor and i was right next to her. FOR SURE lypsynch. i notice she was "cuttin to tape" when the vocals got a little more challenging too. like the ends of most of her songs where she has to belt. oh well. i think it'd be smarter to quit the "live" stuff and just keep making records. she can still put it down in the studio.

But with Mariah i think she doesnt adapt well to her voice i think she tries so hard to sing things like they sound on the record that she doesnt realize thats not how she sounds anymore, some songs need re-working to that. I mean a prime example would be Elton John now and how he sounded early on, Elton used to have one of the highest voices ever for a male, but when he had throat surgery in 1987 he lost that "high" sound but he now sings in a lower register and re-worked the songs to fit his vocals, and they sound just as good, just different.
