i've seen her perform live, outside, early afternoon, in nearly 100 degree weather, and i was pleasantly shocked by how great her performance was and how well she held up through her whole set. when she wants to take care of herself, i think she really shines. she looked great and sounded great. it makes her behavior all the more frustrating to me, because she CAN hold her own.

It's caused a very nasty public rift between the two families that even resulted in the fathers coming to blows a few months ago...namely Mr. Winehouse publically trying to choke the hell out of Blake's father during a drug intervention for the couple at a resort, after the first time she fell into a coma. Shortly after, for the first time the Fielder Civil's confessed they suspected their son had a heroin problem for years via several tv and radio programs in the EU, but could now confirm it in order to save his life. This is when the appeal for a boycott of Amy's music began, and the Winehouses were pissed because it took Amy overdosing for anyone to step up and reveal to them that heroin was involved in the scenario.

Amy's mother (who battles MS and is normally very low-key), has said that she initially thought they were just dealing with her daughter's long term alcoholism and anorexia/bullemia issues until the intervention fiasco. She has been less than flatering in the portrait she paints of Blake as a lazy bum who lies around on the sofa all day watching the telly, around whom her daughter restricts the way she expresses herself when she has visited their home. The only thing both sets of parents have managed to accomplish together is identifying the couple's drug dealers, confronting them to ask them to cut the supply, then getting them under police surveilance when that failed. This last part is purely conjecture, but I'm guessing this is how the police managed to get Blake locked up on those other extraneous charges, considering they've been under the police radar since Amy's overdose. Sad tale of co-dependency indeed. At this point, seems like weaning her from that other addiction, her junkie husband is central to her helth as well

Oh, YOU! Everything I've cited here are actions that have taken place in full view of the public on this side of the pond, so I'm not up in here trying to share any stealthy information. . The thing that makes these scenarios difficult for me to observe though is the openess to and easy availability of heroin here in the EU. Heroin addiction is sooo widespread here, it's almost comparable to how we've endured the crack epidemic in the US. Rather unfortunately I'm so used to seeing street addicts around Europe that I can usually identify a heroin user at first glance . It's very unpretty. I hope folks didn't think Winehouse stands around scratching herself all the time because her t-shirts itch. Even more tragic is that in her latest interviews (recently published but done a few months back while she was touring) she's actually been nodding out . I could understand the frustration of parents who would cry out publically that they're losing their kids to a mess like this.

Scarier still, is the blasé attitude that people have about this kind of addiction here. It's so much apart of the drug culture here that everyday folks seem tobe pretty immune to seeing it, whether it be on the streets or through the media. but that's just my take on it. Even though I've lived over here forever, watching people busted up on heroin really still scares the holy crap outta me

Sunday night Amy Winehouse was found walking the streets outside her apartment in London half naked, crying and incoherent. 6am, stripped of any make-up or trademark beehive, she was barefoot, in only her jeans and bra in 40° winter tempatures. Onlookers said she looked scared and confused and could only say she was looking/waiting for 'him'. Photos were taken, have been on the tv, and it looked absolutely pitiful. Unless this is the beginning of the rock bottom that can turn an addict around, it just looks like a strong probability that this young woman simply may not make it, talent be damned. For the moment she has completely lost her mind

I have no experience in these situations but can they "her parents" or her management not have her sectioned under the mental health act just long enough to detoxify her system so she can think straight
