I have both and while Back on the block is great, I would have to give the edge to The Dude. To me, the dude just flows better and who can pass up, "Betcha wouldn't hurt me". "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

The Dude!
Back On The Block only for The Secret Garden and Tomorrow "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Back On The Block... ... it's that cheesy 90s album with all those remakes of older songs?
The Dude, hands down. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

The Dude, hands down. Naw, that was Q's Jook JOint (which I suspect was cheesy since I never copped it). BOTB was its predecessor, a very overproduced mix of jazz, r&b, rap, and emerging nu-soul test

His schtick is he's an emcee-wannabee-jazzer, so he bangs on percussion so badly out-of-tune that the musicians scoot him off the stage, but he's pretty good when he's not clowning. test

'The Dude'.
It's my favorite Quincy Jones album.I miss the days when he kept it simple...before he started having every rapper and popular Top 10 artist on his albums I remember buying his 'Q's Jook Joint' album in the mid-90s,then eventually getting rid of it.I couldn't stand to hear all those damn rappers and guest stars on every other song. 'The Dude' spotlights Patti Austin,James Ingram and the songwriting talents of Rod Temperton, but it's not overloaded with guest stars and unnecessary cameos. It's very simple and basic....a wonderful collection of songs.

The Dude, hands down. Naw, that was Q's Jook JOint (which I suspect was cheesy since I never copped it). It's extremely cheesy, which is why I got rid of it I was especially appalled at the remake of the Brother Johnson's "Stomp",with rappers pissing all over it.I couldn't even sit through this album.

Q's Jook Joint was definitely a bad album (overall). I do like "Slow Jams", "Do Nothing 'Til You Hear From Me" and "Heaven's Girl". The rest he could have kept. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Yeah,a few songs were cool.I like the Tamia song "You Put A Move On My Heart" and the opening track with Stevie Wonder,Bono and Ray Charles is alot of fun.But the album as a whole is a mess.
