so how is Bjork's "Volta" sitting with you now? well? i'm listening to it right now for the first time in a few months. i don't think i've listened to it since beginning of june. have to admit i don't like it as much as "vespertine" by far but it's a fun album and it's well crafted. but there's just something that drags it down imo, can't quite put my finger on it though. i'm still very heavily in love with the Alva Noto remix for the single "Innocence", that's just too perfect for words. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Not overly fussed with it.
Vespertine was the last album of hers I really got into. Her songs just don't seem to stick with me anymore.

i don't listen to it. i think i burnt myself out on bjork early this year, though. maybe i'll revisit it. but really, i just don't think 'volta' stuck with me very well.

I haven't listened to it in a long time. It's sits on the shelf next to Medulla. Christian Zombie Vampires

hmm, seems like most people just filed it under "b" and moved
on to something else. i don't know but somehow i've got into this album even less than i got into Medulla or Drawing Restraint #9 and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I have to admit, I listened to it a few times; filed it. I liked what I heard...but I've been swept over with a lot of new music this year.
Now you've planted the seed, and I know what I'll be listening to tonight.

oddly, "volta" got me interested in "medulla". hearing songs from that album on bjork's tour this year warmed me up more to the older album than her current one!

i revisited Medulla this year when i got a hold of the singles from it. all those disc 1, 2 and 3 type of singles with remixes and alt. versions. that got me to revisit the album and discover i liked most of those tracks just fine in the original versions. but i'm still a sucker for the Who is It (Bell Choir Mix). that's just so beautiful and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

huh? i too must admit that i haven't listened to it in a while. i think the album is too straight forward...there arent many layers to it so it doesn't hold up on repeated listens...but then i hated Medulla and now love it so maybe i will have a different opinion next year. Space for sale...

I think after Medulla and with the reports that she was working with Timbaland, people got thier hopes up that it was going to be more pop. It ended up being a "pop" version of Medulla. There was also a lot of good music that came out right after wards/prior...albums that I think were much more enjoyable and accessable like Amy Winehouse Christian Zombie Vampires

Definitely think that's the problem for me. It's like angry drum track, squonky noise, Bjork voice..and that's it on every track. There's not much mystery goin' on on this one. Oh, and I finally got Vespertine recently. What was I thinking waiting so long? It's gorgeous. [Edited 11/15/07 11:12am]

I haven't revisited it.
I was expecting some melodies to grow on me, but I don't think there was much there. "Declare Independence" was my favorite because it seemed to be the most unique, but how often have I needed to hear that one?

You baiting BITCH! You knew I'd be clicking on this thread Personally I still love it but It is by no means a Homogenic or Vespertine. LOVED the concert for this though Actually, it's the only bjork concert I've seen but still....it kicked ass! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I don't have Drawing Restraint 9. I heard things about it and it didn't interest me. IMO, I think she's too challenging with her music sometimes. I know that 10 years from now or 20 years from now she will be revered as a musical genius that was way ahead of her time. Christian Zombie Vampires

ONE OR TWO more tracks, i said!

I haven't listened to it for several months, because I've been getting into other things. It sits at the number 5 spot on my top albums of 2007 list, which is quite good considering how strong this year has been. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I haven't listened to Volta since it came out. I played it a few times the first two weeks and started to lose interest. I'm just having some priority changes with my music now. Things that interested me a lot in high school are starting to lose it's sparkle. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)
