Did you guys see that Ian Curtis (Joy Division) movie Control yet?

It opened on Friday here in ONE independent theatre. I saw it on Saturday.

Good film. smile

Remember to take your Zoloft first though.

And

It wasn't exactly an "up" movie and I wasn't exactly in an "up" mood when we saw it last weekend, but I did enjoy it and I was more swept in by the style of filmmaking than I was disturbed or depressed by the story. The movie is shot gorgeously. The performances were all great, too - especially the guy who played Ian Curtis. Good work. nod

It was very well done! I like that Ian isn't portrayed as a hero.

Anton Corbijn directed this, right? I'd love to see it if it ever opens here in Pittsburgh...

he's done a lot of music videos, most famously for U2. the "look" of achtung baby was due mostly to anton corbijn.

He's done tons of work with Depeche Mode and U2. Remember the videos for Enjoy the Silence, Personal Jesus, Heart Shaped Box, and My Friends (by RHCP)? He has a very distinct look to his work.

Yes, great film.
I loved the black and white. Anton Corbijn is a genius.
He's also responsible for their trademark picture:

He's made some of Depeche Mode's best too.

I haven't seen it yet, but I expect that I will. Whether it's in the only theater playing it in this state, or when it comes out on DVD. Looking forward to it, actually. It looks interesting. I'm not a JD or NO fan, but my bf is, and I'm interested.

It's one of the best films released this year that I've seen--probably in my top three for 2007.

lol, I did say released this year. I made sure to check myself on that.

The one 2007 movie I can think of that was better was The Lives Of Others.

I haven't seen that many new releases this year. That's gonna be rough come Oscar time.
