Yes he was. lol He was still angry at the Tempts for not staying true with Paul during his ordeal and angry over the direction the group was going in.

After he left, the Temptations released the hit "Superstar (Remember How You Got Where You Are)", which was a jab at Eddie and his "new best friend" David Ruffin, who had left the Tempts in 1968.

Eddie finally got back at them when "Keep on Truckin'" became a hit for him a year later after "Superstar's" release. One of the verses in the song says "down in Temptations' rain/I'm duckin'/for your love through sleet and snow/I'm truckin'".

Now if that ain't a jab, I don't know what that is. lol

But thanks for that. I already saved that to my Favorites. biggrin

thanks for the added info behind it. I do remember some of this from the tv movie "The Temptations" how it all went down. Of course they may have left some parts out for the movie though.

It was based on the opinion of Otis Williams so yeah a lot of parts were left off, lol. They made Eddie and David seem like villains in the second half of the movie, lol.

Exactly, wish they would have had their own versions out before they passed away confused Meaning David and Eddie...even Paul

IT WAS THIS POST!!! mad IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!

I've been on youtube and wikepedia for an hour watching old temptation clips and reading about each and every original member. I just finished shedding a tear for Paul. It's a tragedy how his life ended. sad

I actually didn't know much about the Temptations story.

Dennis didn't get much time as Eddie and David did though, lol. The main people in the story were the Temptations that made "The Classic 5" (Otis, Melvin, Paul, Eddie and David) for the most part.

me too. I thought he was a real asshole. Actually I loved the movie so much (minus Otis) that I went to the libray to get the book that the movie was based on, and yet again, this was all from Otis' point of view. It made me wish so badly that the rest of them had a least a book or something to give the real deal or at least their side. But all of them are gone except Otis, how ironic.

I know! I was crying after I read that on wikepedia. After watching the clips, he was my overall favorite member. I definitely got the appeal of David, but I really liked Paul.

I got all of my copies from Circuit City for $9.98. I'm surprised they haven't continued this series. All four were released in an 8 month span from April til December of 2006.

I am a HUGE Temptations fan and I love the movie, and although it didn't make me hate Otis, I do agree that the other members needed a say in the way things went down.I don't think that they demonized Eddie as much as they did David, they made him look like a real asshole. But then again, maybe he was, you know cocaine is a hell of a drug lol . But Otis did have the least memorable voice in the group, I think any of the 'classic Temps' (Eddie, Melvin, Paul, Otis, and David) would have sang him under the table. The Temps are the greatest soul group of all, but the biggest stain on their claim to fame is the number of members that they had. All in all I believe they had over 20 members, and since they are still kicking today they stand to add a lot more to that number which may already be a lot higher. So that does lead me to believe that Otis was a real prick to work with being that he was the only member there from the groups inception.

LOL!!! I think Eddie might had been an asshole too! But he had good reason to be though. I think David might have been a bigger asshole than Eddie but not bigger than Otis. It takes an asshole to deal with another asshole.

True. Maybe ego was a big part of the groups demise. But I guess we will never know the whole truth.
