Madlib I really love Madlib' originality and skills, he has an extensive knowledge about Music and is a Jazz lover, I highly recommend for you to get his Blue Note album, it is Jazz with other influences:

Such a simple post I wouldn't think to do myself. But I totally agree. | |

Absolutely. IIRC, he did some production on the classic hip-hop album, Paul's Boutique. Shades of Blue is an excellent collection, as Suzieg76 said, and he treats it well because he does play his own music (he's made some decent-to-good instrumental albums under the name Yesterday's New Quintet).
More importantly for hip-hop heads, during this decade, he's worked very hard to keep the spirit of hip-hop alive. Whether behind the boards, going solo as Quasimoto, recording with the late great J Dilla as JayLib (see the great re-released Champion Sound), or his hip-hop instrumental joints, he's been keeping it real. His most impressive work has been with MF Doom (f/k/a Zev Love X of KMD, and a/k/a King Geedorah and Viktor Vaughn), as the duo MADVILLAIN. Their only album, Madvillainy, is IMHO the album of the decade thus far. If you haven't checked it out, please do. End of "rant." Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I recently purchased Madvillainy on vinyl and I really loved it. The merits of artists such as Madlib and MF Doom are respecting music and understanding musical genres and being innovative which is clearly lacking these days. Originality and talent are the key elements to a good musician, singer and performer. Madlib is clearly influenced by the best Jazzmen and Old School Hip Hop but he uses his discerning skills and makes it his own, a great example to follow. Keep it real! "Girly Man Man Man.....
