Dyke and the Blazers Ahhhhh this is what I call MUSIC, I love this track, it should be sent to all current music executives! (the lyrics are just sooo right):
http://www.youtube.com/wa...6SBkBPd4xs I found this band doing a random Funk music search and I am now happy to have it on vinyl. One of the reviews said that James Brown was scared about them, well at least musically and I understand why!. Enjoy! [Edited 11/9/07 2:06am] "Girly Man Man Man..... Kill her kill her kill her"

I will have to dig in my collection in the basement for the original funky broadaway. Damn.

Dyke (not Duke) and the Blazers were probably the second Funk band to come along in the mid-60's, definitely after James Brown. They say he's the first artist to have "Funky" in a song title, he wasn't the first to use "funky" in a song, I think I heard JB say the word Funk in 1963.
They seemed more raw then James Brown and his boys in the mid-60's and not as tight, but they were number 2 in the 60's then you had Charles Wright and his 103 Band then Sly. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I like my funk dirty and not that tight, that's why Dyke and the gang's tunes still hold-up. Sharon Jones cops one of their riffs on her new album...
