Dyke and the Blazers

Ahhhhh this is what I call MUSIC, I love this track, it should be sent to all current music executives! (the lyrics are just sooo right):

I found this band doing a random Funk music search and I am now happy to have it on vinyl.
One of the reviews said that James Brown was scared about them, well at least musically and I understand why!.

Enjoy!

Dyke (not Duke) and the Blazers were probably the second Funk band to come along in the mid-60's, definitely after James Brown. They say he's the first artist to have "Funky" in a song title, he wasn't the first to use "funky" in a song, I think I heard JB say the word Funk in 1963.

They seemed more raw then James Brown and his boys in the mid-60's and not as tight, but they were number 2 in the 60's then you had Charles Wright and his 103 Band then Sly.

I like my funk dirty and not that tight, that's why Dyke and the gang's tunes still hold-up. Sharon Jones cops one of their riffs on her new album...
