If Madonna, Kylie and all the other pop whores can have hits, why can't she? http://profile.myspace.co...=101853244
OMG! Check out the first song "Shame Shame Shame" Her club cuts are just as tasty and smart as anything any of those other broads have done and yet she is practically nowhere to be found. Does this appeal to you as a pop whore like it does me? CeCe Peniston is one of the most underrated singers out there and it just pains me that she hasn't blown up to the point that she deserves. I have no idea how much of this is self imposed or whether or not she is out there trying to create and push her music. Either way, it's a damn shame that this song isn't like charting #1 in the pop realm cuz it is as good and even better than most of the pop stuff out there 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Blige. Those plans backfire. CeCe is dance-pop, disco, & house all the way.

CeCe IS NOT a tranny! Is that what you're saying?! Even if, she sure the hell is a way better singer than Vadge or Kylie and they manage to dazzle the pop scene I'm surprised she hasn't done a house album. CeCe is CeCe and deserves not to walk in anybody else's shadow 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

What in the hell are you saying?! I cannot stand CeCe. One of my most impudent record store freakouts happened when I saw that she had a Millenium Artist compilation. I could not fathom for the life of me why she deserved (a) to be remembered and (b) to have a compilation when her "hits" could fit on a 45. She grates my last nerve! Well, she certainly has enough hits to qualify for a collection (admittedly, a small one). In addition to her huge initial dance hits, "Finally" and "We Got a Love Thang," she had 4 other top-10 R&B hits: "Keep On Walkin'," "Inside That I Cried," "I'm in the Mood," and "I'm Not Over You." That's more of an EP than a 45. I'm pretty sure "Hit By Love" was also a fairly big dance hit. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

CeCe has always suffered from bad management. A lot of her work gets pushed to the gay clubs as mostly drag queen music. I also think she suffered from too many others that had a similar sound when she came on the scene...Crystal Waters, Deseree, Paula Abdul, Beverlee and much of the Chicago House sounds.
One would think that her inclusion on the Pricilla SOundtrack might have pushed her to the mainstream, but that single came out almost a year from it's initial release. I'll never forget when our "special guest" at a rave party was CeCe. No one was impressed and She kept calling out "Fin-nal-leeee" to get the audience to call it back to her. It was pretty funny. Well it appears that I have picked the most appropriate song. SHAME SHAME SHAME! on all of you!
Personally I cannot stand Britney damn spears and yet I can admit that Toxic was one hell of a song. I can't believe you guys won't even try to give it a chance! I have given a lot of the hack acts you guys support a chance and you know what, I ended up liking some of them in the process! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Knock it off Cinnie! !!!!! Ok, are pop whores, and I wouldn't have expected you to be one, really deconstructing a song for all it's technicalities? Hardly. That is what is so marvelous about pop, it can make the most vile performers taste so wonderful. Believe me, these guys rave about a lot of broads that aint all that but still I at least enter into it with an open mind and though I haven't loved all their suggestions I certainly have found joy in some stuff I wouldn't have known/cared about otherwise. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Well..... alright As long as you're an equal opportunity critic I can understand people not liking her usual sound. I absolutely love and adore her and even I will admit that many of her songs are total misses and I think that has to more to do with who is producing her and also the kind of promotion she's given and way less to do with her talent. She has an amazing voice and could outsing circles around all the broads everyone here praises put together. See, I am willing to guy the Siobhan Donaghy (sp?) CD outright and unpreviewed because of a song that MikeMatronic posted (don't give it up) and I did buy Annie's "Anniemal" without question because Moonbeam loved it so much. And Funkenstein, please! aren't you just a funk fan? I don't know, I thought people would have been at least willing to hear the song and discuss it. I have great respect for the people I have asked input from in this thread and I may not always like the stuff they like but still I do engage them and their threads because I respect their musical sensibilities. I was hoping someone respected mine . [Edited 11/9/07 13:23pm] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
