KYLIE MINOGUE, the true Queen of Pop, DEFENDS BRITNEY SPEARS AND AMY WINEHOUSE!

Kylie Minogue has jumped to the defence of Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse, saying fans should not judge them by bad headlines.

The Aussie songstress says she empathises with her two troubled contemporaries, saying: 'I do. I don't know either of them but what would frustrate me and what sometimes still does is a headline gives you three or four words worth of person, personality and life and ideals and aims and failures and everything that you are.'

She made her comments ahead of being given the Music Industry Trust Award at the Grosvenor House hotel in London tonight.

Minogue, 39, also denies she's sacrificed a family life for her fame saying: 'I wouldn't say sacrified, I've been devoted. But I could have married a boyfriend when I was younger and be doing the school run now and who's to say that would be the more rewarding life for me?'

The '2 Hearts' singer says she's not worried that she's still single on the doorstep of her 40th birthday, adding: 'I'm not scared of turning 40. I joke about it with my girlfriends and I think it's gonna be quite liberating.'

'I've always heard through the years, as a woman, 40 is when you really come into your own and I think it's happening,' she told Q magazine.

She will be cheered on by 1,200 guests tonight after she joins Elton John and Peter Gabriel as a winner of the prestigious music accolade.

The star is thrilled about her latest prize, saying: 'It is an incredible honour to be the recipient of this year's Music Industry Trust's Award and I am truly thrilled to be recognised in this way.'

David Munns, Chairman of the Awards committee said: 'There is no doubt that of our 15 Award recipients to date, Kylie is by far the most glamorous.'

Earlier in the month, the singer was recognised at the same venue after she was hailed as an 'Idol' at the Q Awards.

The singer's has sold over 40 million records in a career that spans three decades.

Kylie's a lovely woman, but she has always been a bland sheep of an interviewee. In twenty years I've never heard her say anything interesting or against the grain. This is exactly the kind of simplistic platitude you'd expect from her. On a side note I hear she wants to have kids now. Let me say that, blandness aside, this is an endeavour I would be only too happy to help her with.

Yeah I gotta say I am always disappointed by the presence of Kylie fanatics on this board. What is it about being gay that makes you a fucking shallow, vacuous waste of oxygen? I remember a friend of mine who is bi was really into this guy then found out his hero was Paris Hilton... He ended it pretty quick, I agreed with him. Kylie is not talented, I guess she is somewhat attractive (nothing special though) but attractive women grow on trees and this women can't sing (ever noticed when she does a duet with a man, the man does the high part?) can't dance doesn't write her lame songs... what the fuck do you people see in her?

You can fuck right off. biggrin

Prince is a fan. He wrote a song for her in 1992 after she was a house-guest at Paisley Park. The song was recorded but remains unreleased: http://64.233.183.104/sea...cd=1&gl=uk

Even Madonna is a fan, she wanted Kylie to sign to Maverick so Impossible Princess could have been released in the US
