Top 10 Velvet Underground songs VU were certainly one of the most influential bands, if not very commercially successful. Their music paved the way for a lot of others to follow, and their debut album is considered by many to be the greatest of all time!
So, VU fans, what are your top 10 VU songs? Is there any value to the albums released after Loaded?  
 
Here's my list: 1. "Heroin" 2. "Venus in Furs" 3. "White Light/White Heat" 4. "Femme Fatale" 5. "Sister Ray" 6. "Sunday Morning" 7. "I'm Waiting for the Man" 8. "The Gift" 9. "Lady Godiva's Operation" 10. "The Black Angel's Death Song" I definitely prefer the jagged first two albums. I enjoy the third album, but Loaded is a letdown for me. I don't mind her when she's doing the atonal drone rock thing (all tomorrow's parties), but I cannot handle her doing traditional material. I think her version of These Days is one of the great lost opportunities in all pop music. Brilliant song, wonderful arrangement (a million times better than Jackson Browne's), but it's completely ruined by that voice. That song is crying out for a traditionally nice vocalist, not her teutonic s&m timbre. I think Femme Fatale and I'll Be Your Mirror would have been much better served by John Cale taking the lead. | |
