Breaking Thriller

Michael to date has the largest selling album. Thriller is at around 80 million. While some argue of the biggest in the states Thriller is the biggest int he world.

Like James Brown 2 decades before him Michael Jackson was the big guy of the day and sold many more than Brown. It's been 2 decades since Thriller and no one's tppped him. With the current state of the industry I'm not sure anyone can.

I want to knwo if there is or willbe an artist who can make 140 million. Even though Usher is liek the curent Michael Jackson confessions didn't sell anywhere near what Thriller did in it's first weeks. Is it possible or are the days of the superstar over?

Where did you get this info from? Thriller just touch the 50 million copies mark only a few years ago.

Confessions did sell more that Thiller or any other R&B artist in it's first weeks... Thriller sold over the long haul..

Thriller has sold over 55 mil but it's an estimated 102 million. Sony BMG hasn't really updated the sales history in awhile along with Bad

Yet but IRONICALLY enough in the 2008 editino it STILL said 55 million "while MJ's people said the album has sold an estimated 100 million". Hmmm... seems like somebody either in Guinness or MJ's camp is up to no good but it's still the biggest seller so you think of getting into an ARGUMENT with me about it, forget it, not gonna happen. The nWo will fuck this thread up, so don't try me, potna. lol

I cannot imagine another artist selling 50-70 million copies of his or her album (like Michael Jackson), let alone 140 million, anytime soon.

thriller has been sitting at 58million for like a decade, its sales figures havent been officially upgraded by the record company, along with every other mj album. Fact is its clearly sold heaps since 1997 the rerelease alone has sold a million in the US and probably a few more million worldwide, but technically sales of thriller have not been tracked because most of its sales are now via the internet. So i suggest a conservative estimate of about 62million sales, and maybe a few more million shipped.

Noone will EVER AND I MEAN EVER sell that again!

Well, the superstardom he achieved with Thriller happened only to Elvis and The Beatles during their peak years. He was big before just not as big.

And there it is lol Thriller and Bad's sales haven't been upgraded in years. Bad's sales haven't been upgraded since 1994 or so, it was at 29 million at the time

According to Wikipedia Thriller has sold 105M, I just realized that all of Michael's better albums were recorded by Quincy Jones. I'm thinking maybe he better work back with him.

Dude, u know u can't trust Wikipedia. We all edit that shit. lol The only thing confirming MJ selling 104 million is one of his Guinness plaques but it's not in the 2008 edition of the book. I should know, I skimmed it when I was at Wal Mart.
