How does Donell Jones have a Greatest Hits CD? WTF!?

First Portait gets a Greatest Hits Cd,

Then Sisqo gets a Millenium Collection,

Now Donell! What's next? (Bobby Valentino the Best Of?)

Donell may be a good artist but he has Four hits, may be five. Can't people just pick up the Second Cd and have most of the hits.

(I'm still waiting on the Jermaine Stewart Greatest Hits)

Donell has some great songs, but not enough for a greatest hits cd yet. He's a good singer though.

He's had several albums. He managed to get 2 or 3 hits per cd. Besides, I'm sure the "Greatest Hits" was to mark the end of his contract with LaFace.

I felt like Life Goes on sounds kinda rushed-it's not that good. Sad though because Donell's voice is great.

Where I Wanna Be is classic-still listen to it today. The last cd I didn't purchase-got tired of wasting money.

Right. if you had a hit single or two, released a few albums and your contract is up, count on a hits set!

Well I like Donell Jones and I love some of his songs, but most of them were starting to sound the same...same subject, similar beat, same words.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Not live trust me on that. His vocals sound horrible just doing track shows.
He would embarrass a live band. lol

You're right. Greatest hits are just sales vehicles. Even if Donnell Jones really has only 4 or 5 true hits, newcomers at this stage, or fans who have put off buying the albums will more likely pull out cash to get all the hits on one CD. The rest of the album can simply be the other released singles that weren't hits or other filler.

We've all seen the vast array of Greatest Hits, Anthologies, Best Ofs, etc. and know that they hardly have to be packed full of an artists best material to be released.

Betty Boo had a greatest hits album as well. She only had 2 career albums overall.

I believe Rome had 2 major label albums and one independent. His first one did well. "I Belong To You" was the big hit and "Do You Like This" was his 2nd hit. It did chart, but it wasn't as big as the 1st single.

I believe his 3rd album was a gospel cd. I remember seeing him on TBN promoting it.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the "Hits" album is full of "Where I Wanna Be" joints since that was his biggest and best album. But usually a greatest hits album by someone with little material means they're about to get booted off their label.

Track List:

1. U Know What's Up (Where I Wanna Be)
2. Spend the Night (Journey of a Gemini)
3. Where I Wanna Be (Where I Wanna Be)
4. I'm Gonna Be (Journey of a Gemini)
5. You Know That I Love You (Life Goes On)
6. This Luv (Where I Wanna Be)
7. Shorty (Got Her Eyes on Me) (Where I Wanna Be)
8. Better Start Talking (Journey of a Gemini)
9. Where You Are (Is Where I Wanna Be) (Pt. 2) (Life Goes On)
10. Cry (Journey of a Gemini)
11. Still (Life Goes On)
12. Put Me Down (Life Goes On)
13. Knocks Me off My Feet (My Heart)

I am kind of surprised that "In The Hood" didn't make the cut. It charted and was a regional hit.

Oh ok, it's pretty spread out. I wanted "Have You Seen Her" off the "Wanna" album to be on there. I'm also curious how "Oh Na Na" of "Gemini" didn't make it?

eek How the hell do you screw up a Donell Jones hits CD? "In the Hood" is a no brainer, but "You Should Know" could've made an appearance. Wasn't it a double A-side with "Knocks Me Off My Feet"?
