Houston Rapper Big Moe Dies After Heart Attack
Houston rapper Big Moe passed away early yesterday morning (October 14) due to complications from a heart attack, sources revealed to AllHipHop.com. As previously reported, Big Moe, born Kenneth Moore, suffered a massive heart attack on Sunday (October 7) and had been a coma since he was hospitalized. He never came out of the coma and was on life support 24-hours a day. Big Moe was a member of DJ Screw's Screwed Up Click. He was best known for his 2002 single "Purple Stuff," which was taken from his sophomore album titled Purple World. "Big Moe was one of the pioneers of the Screwed Up Click and the H-Town sound," Texas legend Michael "5000" Watts of Swishahouse told AllHipHop.com. "This man brought what we are on the street to the mixtapes & CD's. I'm personally honored to have had a feature from him on one of our [Swishahouse] albums." Other rappers from Houston agreed that while Big Moe may not have enjoyed platinum success as an artist, his presence on the Houston rap scene was undeniable. "The TMI Boyz and TMI Entertainment sends their deepest condolences to Big Moe's family," said Houston rap collective The TMI Boyz. "Without him, Southern Hip-Hop wouldn't be were it is today. Our prayers go out to his whole family." "The thing about Moe was he always stayed Moe," added Houston rapper Kiotti. "He always treated you like he wanted to be treated. Honestly, if more Houston artists had a heart like his, our music scene would be where its supposed to be. My heart and prayers go out to him and his family." | |

it's not even that far removed i know but that was the old south coast music..when east coast was still kinda in style but west coast was takin over. basically proving that aint nuthin creative about the song...

I thought that was really special...and in the end of the video he did make sure to show a large photo of Chaka Khan as tribute. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Any shmuck can throw a beat over a speeded up 80's song and and rap over it... All credit still goes to David Foster, A REAL PRODUCER, who produced chaka track. I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

Well he is credited on the track of course. I have almost all the Rufus records (missing the first one) and most of the Chaka albums, and at first I WAS PISSED when i heard Through The Wire...however upon listening why he chose the song to sample, plus the lyrical content...and then the album itself. I was drawn in2 him. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

But it still isn't creative man, Kanye just has really good taste in music And i don't think someone should be credited for that Hell I've been told that i have good taste in music as well, I don't consider it a talent though (I'm probably stupid for thinking that, cause i'd probably make alot of money if I did consider it one and sampled all my favorite songs, i'd probably give Kanye a run for his money) I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

Now when someone samples these days they can look like they are trying to duplicate him. The thing is to stay different than the others. Kanye has definitley put his stamp on is sampling style. Kanye's beats & sampling jumped started John Legend and Commons career. Helped Jay-Z's The Blueprint become a classic and brought alot of other artists top 10 top 20 singles including Janet Jackson, Alecia Keys and Jamie Foxx. He isnt creative in the sense as he is a musician, but he does definitley have his own sound that can be duplicated very easily. The fact that it is HIS sound makes it unique. Someone like Timbaland is definitley more creative than Kanye, even though he samples alot of his snares and hi-hats from other productions...like me.
