it was much better live with just Annie singing.

I really don't mind this song at all. In fact, I kinda like it. It's much more straight forward and simple than I imagined.

Other than Madonna's part, I don't even notice the 97 million other vocalists, which is a good thing.

Yeah, I agree. I cut it out of the album, and it's a much better album because of it.

I know it's a new song, but it sounds like a bad late 90's updating of Sisters Are Doing It for Themselves. confused

i like it fine enough. i'm not blown away by the new cd in general, though. i think bare was a lot better. i still like this one but i can already tell it will lose flavor with me pretty soon.

Yeah, me too. But, "Bare" hit all the right notes with me. In alot of ways it was as if my inner dialogue were set to music. "Songs" doesn't really hit me quite that profoundly. I like it alot, and it's a great album, but I don't think I'll still be listening to it in 5 years like I still do "Bare" and "Diva."

I'm digging the new album. It's by far the most energetic solo work she's ever done. It reminds me a little of "Revenge" but with more maturity.

It feels more like a good Eurythmics album to me. Which is why I dig it, but I prefer the more introspective vibe of "Diva" and especially "Bare."

Do you? It's more upbeat, that's for sure. But nothing on "Songs" gets me like "Loneliness" or matches the vocal arrangement of "Honestly." Not that I don't like "Songs" (except for "Sing"). And overall it's better than "Medusa" (although I really love about 1/2 of "Medusa.")

i really like this song. of course MADONNA's participation had a little something to do with it. lol.. but if you're gonna have that many names on it, i would like to hear them. Madonna, Joss Stone and i think Angelique Kidjo are the only ones that you can hear or have a cameo.

Stupid, cliche lyrics. Overproduction. There are only a very few songs that I don't like by Lennox/Eurythmics. This is up there with "Do You Wanna Break Up." biggrin

I just don't think it's executed very well. I think there is a lack of a strong melody (particularly in the verses), and the line that "What won't kill you will make you strong" does not belong in a song about AIDS, unless I'm really misinterpreting it! I don't think it's terrible, but I like all of the other ten songs a lot more.

in the early days AZT and HAART weren't always friendly to patients.

HAART still is long term chemotherapy with no studies on the long term affects on people.
