Annie Lennox ROCKED LIVE last night

peeps next to me said she had a new album called "Mass Destruction."

show was fantabulous.
small, intimate venue.
awesome crowd SO INTO HER.
she could hardly take all the love in at the end.
she closed w/"Why" no encore (told us in advance it was last song).

did some Eurthymics stuff.
notably 'Here Comes the Rain Again' was first solo on piano.
'Sweet Dreams' was toward the end w/big crowd energy.

she opened the show w/'No More I Love You's' from Medusa.
highlight for me was "Cold" from Diva.
(vocally, she sang it long and expressive on last note and audience was holding its breath waiting to clap.)
also she had a video of her putting on her full Diva makeup & headdress playing behind "Why."

large number of alternative lifestyle audience members.
her 'S-I-N-G' (socio-political) message was:
"it is a human rights issue for all children of the world to be born free of HIV."
(there is some kind of drug or med advancement that can keep HIV from passing onto children.)
there was a short video of her w/children in Africa & showed horrifying stats of HIV/child-related morbidity

Did she do "Precious"? I still haven't heard her new album. Her live appearances on shows have been amazing though.

this is the best I can remember (saw her in LA on Thursday)

1. no more i love yous
2. little bird
3. broken glass
4. pavement cracks (my personal fave)
5. dark road
6. smithereens
7. here comes the rain again
8. a thousand beautiful things
9. sisters doin it for themselves
10. cold
11. ghost in my machine
12. angel playing with my heart (Second Fave)
13. when tomorrow comes
13. thorn in my side
14. sweet dreams

15. sing
16. why

i loved the show - obviously - her vocals were fucking outrageous. and she seemed to enjoy it more than i have ever seen her enjoy performing live (in person or on tv).

i personally really missed "money cant buy it" and "legend in my living room" however.

plus - WHY does she hardly ever do ANYTHING from "Medusa?" That's the album that made me a fan - really want to hear "cant get next to you," "train in vain," "take me to the river" etc.

also - why "when tomorrow comes" and "thorn in my side?" NEITHER are great Eurythmics hits - i would much prefer "would i lie to you," "missionary man," "who's that girl," or maybe an obscure album track like "i could give you a mirror."

ok - rant over.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

yay glad you enjoy it. i'm would have liked to have heard Angel, one of my all time favorites. the crowd in SD was great and got up on their feet to dance for a few.
