Let's go on a vinyl dig this weekend. I've got a little money set aside to pay down on my huge credit card debt but I think I'm going to take a little of it and have some fun, something I haven't had in months. I long for some more music but the normal record stores that sell CDs don't have a damn thing in them that I want and don't already have. I think I'm going to make that long drive to the country tomorrow (that's where our only used record store is) and go on a vinyl dig.
Of course, I'll be starting with the A's in the R&B section and browsing my way through the Z's, which will take a while, so I can see what they have that I may not have thought of. I am, however, looking for a few things in particular such as: Hot On The Tracks - The Commodores (thanks to Soul Alive) A Taste of Honey's second album Food Stamps Y'all - whatever album it's on by The Ohio Players (thanks to Finess) Some Michael Henderson albums (I already have "Wide Receiver") Mystic Merlin (thanks to Funkenstein, I just hope I can find it) Some Raydio albums (thanks to Funkpill) Also, Soul Train has inspired me to look for a few things such as: Mtume's 1980 or 1981 album Pockets War (the Spanish instrumental song used in the line dance on one of the 70s episode) Peace Pipe - BT Express Honey I - George McCrae Saturday, Saturday Night - Zoom Y'all come on, join me this weekend, and go on a vinyl dig. If you do, what in particular will you be looking for if you can find it? . . . [Edited 10/12/07 6:51am] Andy is a four letter word.

These regular record stores don't have anything and they have stopped carrying most of the complete albums by old artists and only carry greatest hits collections (which I already have). There was this group of buildings that are rented out for people to have flea markets. Most of the time, it is usually old furniture that looks like it came from Fred Sanford's junkyard. However, I happened to be in one that a Chinese couple had rented out. They had a whole crate of R&B vinyl from the late 70s/early 80s that some ex-DJ turned crackhead had sold to them for crack money. They didn't know what they had because they were selling each album for only a quarter and they were in excellent condition except for the covers which had "Finesse" written on them. I bought so many albums that day, I could barely carry them to the car. Andy is a four letter word.

I haven't been on a vinyl dig in three years. It was at a record store in my hometown of columbia, sc. They had what they called a stanky 70's record sale. I got 4 isley brothers albums for 1 dollar. I got a natalie cole live album. I got the commodores midnight magic. Cameo's feel me. I also got slave the concept for 50 cents. I also got a rare mass production album called in a city groove for a quarter. That is the last good vinyl dig i have been on.
If i get a chance i might join the party this weekend. I would like to find Mass production-3 miles high Raydio Confunkshun-Fever Ebonee Webb, kwik (probably not a chance in hell i will find it) Sun Don't laugh at my funk

***Ray Parker Jr. and Raydio's first album---released in 1978 and featuring the hit "Jack and Jill". Actually, I wouldn't need to dig for that one b/c its in my basement as it turns out. Before I start vinyl digging, I usually like to surf my own collection first.

I am going to flea markets every weekend to buy vinyls. Sometimes I have a clear idea of what I want to get, most of the times the sellers put some records on the side for me which happen to be very good most of the time. Regular chats with sellers is good and they also get to know what you like too. Vinyl shopping is always an adventure and a very exciting one. Happy search everybody! "Girly Man Man Man..... So, a friend and I are at a second hand store and finding all these fierce clothes...we then work our way to the music section and discover a bunch of killer disco and house lps.... and well....I said, "damn, some queen must have just died". i still feel bad about that joke. Space for sale...

I wish all I owed was $1,500. Last year I transferred three credit cards at a finance charge in the late 20 percents over to one card at a 5 percent finance charge. Since then I've paid that motherfucker down from $13,000 down to $9,800. Vain Andy ain't looked so vain lately.
