Not surprised. The radio stations here played ALL of those singles, and any songs Justin featured on too.

It's not about people who are tired of talking about the Jacksons, it's the ones who flood the section and threads with the same topics AND trolling the good ones up all the time, case in point: that Marlon Jackson thread neutral

I agree. I'm no fan, but he obviously crafted music (with notable help, just like the Jacksons) that appeals to lots of people. And not just one song but lots of songs on the album. It's not to say it's the greatest music ever, but nice inoffensive pop.

But it's amazing how out of it I am. I've only ever heard Sexyback & his Coldplay song.

I should also mention that outside of the Innocent Man & Thriller cassettes I had in the 80's, I don't own any of those albums!
[Edited 10/11/07 12:24pm]

I agree.

I think Justin Timberlake is in the same boat as Janet Jackson. Reliant on others for his sound. Until he writes and produces several songs on his album all on his own, I will continue to see him in this light.

But his popularity, like Janet Jackson's during the late '80s in particular, cannot be denied.

However, unlike Thriller or Born In The USA, I do not think his album has had NEARLY the same impact on popular culture. Hence, you and others in this thread not being aware of some of his singles.

I disagree with you...

Janet Jackson was more popular in her prime. She sold more records (even though I admit record sales mean shit now), and made WAAAAAY more hits...

The Future sex love sounds concert on HBO failed miserabily.

The Velvet Rope Tour was one of the biggest concert watched ever on TV...

Justin is big now, but not as big as Janet.

I meant that both are reliant on their producers. Of course, Janet Jackson was bigger in her heyday than Timberlake. In fact I am glad that she was, because I hate Timberlake.

So true. So true. Everyone from the media, to the critics, to magazines, to forums, to radio, to MTV, to VH-1...it's all about how great, amazing, influential JT is.

Well I'll tell you what...give Vanilla Ice access to Timbaland producing his next album, the kind of airplay JT gets on MTV and radio, and then V-ICE will suddenly be THE KING OF RAP.

Pop music is such a joke these days.. smile

Is that list even complete? confuse

Seems to me that first Gwen Stefani should be on it?

And maybe the last Furtado? hmm

I think Gwen only had 4 top 40 hits from L.A.M.B., and Nelly had maybe 3-4 from Loose.

Still, nobody can fuck with Rhythm Nation's 7 top 5 singles.

word.

i guess it's very rare the label even promotes that many singles off one album, let alone cracking at least #39 on the pop chart every time.
