The only thing that's halfway decent on that list is Aqua. "Barbi Girl" wasn't even that good a song but it shits all over that other stuff.

Let's do a break down of all the acts and where they went and are now.

Boyz II Men-From what I last heard, their last album, without the full lineup since the guy with the deep voice has health problems, was only released as an import? They are an R&B act! I don't think they are even on a major label anymore (and if they are, they aren't being treated right).

LeAnn Rimes-Shockingly still viable and now adult and fun. Tried pop, went over well but not enough to sell or make a convincing album. Also, surprisingly, had an import only album but that was probably because it would not go over well here (might have done Ok there). Her next one, due out soon, should sell well to her country audience and win over or keep those pop fans.

Mariah Carey-We all know about her and the last ten years! "Butterfly" was kind of a peak, did well with what I like to refer to as the "Rainbow" butt album (my sister had it...and never really listened to it) but signs of wear where showing as she ended up pushing bad singles that did not do well. And than there was
"Glitter"...then a very modest bounce back into some respectable number and reviews and then the monster that saved her career....an album with more than a one word title! Her new album is supposed to save the industry even though the first single isn't out, or is it?

Garth Brooks-The biggest selling act in America...and then he blew it with Chris Gaines, which never even materialized into a movie...Had one more big album before retiring and selling his stuff via Wal-Mart. Also supposed to have a big new release (boxed set, I think) coming out.

Master P-Make 'em say Uh! I don't think he has an audience anymore even though he has tried everything to stay in the spotlight from shit movies to pimping out his kid! Sad, but who cares?

Fleetwood Mac-Managed to get together for full album in the past ten years minus McVie. Still a legendary act and could get together like that and generate at least ticket sales (and probably a modestly successful album as well).

Busta Rhymes-Still out there managing hit singles but not selling like he used to (although who is?). He was fun for a while but it got kind of predictable and boring, too.

Puff Daddy-Failed on the follow up (notoriously) but came back strong after that. Not sure if people think of him as much of a rapper but he can manage a hit song when he wants to (even if "Last Night" is a blatant Prince rip off, I still like it) and works with the right people. More known for being the modern day "Great Gatsby" (and probably not knowing how sad that is) than music.

Elton John-Still a legend and can still easily place an album into the top ten....Keeping in there...I think it was his follow up this one, with the all the videos that featured modern day stars singing his songs instead of him. Released far too many collections, including live sets (released one just this week) but we forgive him.

Aqua-The biggest success story of them all! Seriously, they got that album into the Top Ten? Guess it didn't help that my sister bought it (and enjoyed more than one song on it). Kind of what the late nineties where all about....having a hit single but since the single was so limited, the album ended up selling (see Lou Bega, Chumbwumba, etc.). The nineties where a good deacade for dance pop...this is not an example of that, though.

Gosh, the 90s were horrible.

I do like Busta, though.

This surprises you? lol I've been pretty vocal about my distaste for 90s music. On a good day, my feelings for that decade can be summed up by lukewarm ambivalence!

The only album on this list that I still listen to is Mariah's Butterfly. The rest were (overall) bad. I did like the Busta track with Janet "What's IT Gonna Be" that was on "When Disaster Strikes".

Evolution had some bomb songs on it. Four Seasons of Love and A Song Mama were knockin' back then.

I HATED No Way Out, but EVERYBODY had it. IMO opinion, music really slid down hill drastically after this album. Ghetto D was pretty bad, too. But these albums were everywhere. I wasn't too fond of Butterfly either.

Evolution was (imo) the worst BIIM album to that point. I despise 4 Seasons. I really liked "A Song For Mama", but it didn't fit the cd to me. Come to think of it, I didn't care for any song on that cd.

You're trippin. Four Seasons was one of the most beautiful songs they put out. It the next album with Doin' Just Fine that I didn't care for.
